We review the $80,000 2022 Mercedes E450 All Terrain Wagon a 3-row luxury cruiser. This configuration is so rare in North America it makes us wonder if it will ever be popular again. Other options are Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7, Volvo V90, BMW X7, and Kia Telluride.

Can’t they just make these new but six years old, out of factory warranty, out of certified pre-owned warranty and 90k miles, depreciated to 20% it’s original value with at least one known Achilles heel? They’ll sell a million of them!

Haven't seen a video under 10 minutes from you guys in a long time. Work load and effort aside, your reviews are the only ones i put in tv and actually sit down to watch. We learn a lot from your videos. Regardless what you guys post and how long the videos are, we'll be here

With time, I have started to appreciate wagons more and more.

I love how the Chevy Trax is the unofficial, mortal enemy of SG.

“It’s a wagon, not a crossover, therefore I will not buy it” -majority of Americans who would also rather a Tahoe or expedition over a minivan that’s far more practical, efficient, cheaper and drives better.

I wish we could get more wagons that are accessible to the normal people. I 100% would be on board for a wagon over my crossover but the only options are high dollar, high maintenance machines.

Here in Finland we have lots of these lifted wagons: Volvo V60 and V90 Cross Country (and previously the XC70 which are everywhere), Audi A4 and A6 Allroad, the same Mercedes you have here, but then also Volkswagen Golf Alltrack, Skoda Octavia Scout, etc etc. Very good for Northern Finnish life 👍🏻 Thanks for the video geeses 👍🏻

I was within days of buying one of these, had my whole spec all figured out, found the one I wanted 8 states away, was ready to do it...but ended up saving $50k buying a 2017 e300 sedan with option and 12k miles...there isn't a day that goes buy that I don't feel like a genius for saving so much money on something that checks so many of the same boxes. The seats are frickin AWESOME. Every time I get out of the car I'm MORE relaxed than I was getting in, and that's the best thing I can say about it...it's my favorite place to sit.

My Audi A4 Avant is 19 years old and I am holding onto it with a death grip! I love wagons.

I need that extra ride height for when I jump the curb at wholefoods so I can get my protein bowl in a timely matter before my business meeting.

This vehicle is far more elegant than any SUV, while still providing an off road experience and hauling items. This is the way to go. F SUV's.

US needs more hatchbacks and estates/ wagons because soon all we'll see on the roads will be 20 cloned versions of the same cuv platform.

Wagons are just the right way to make "Sporty Practicality" ❤️

Yes, last stand for the wagon, $80, 000 dollars, it'll sell like hotcakes. Why doesn't a working class family buy this over a $30k rav4 or CR-V?

Let us not forget Volvo V90 Cross Country, which is also a direct competitor for this Merc.

I recently purchased a 2017 E400 Wagon a couple of months back and am in love with it so far. It is fully loaded with all options and a maybach designo interior. Massage seats, autopilot steering and many more options. I own a tuning company so we tuned it the day we bought it and it now makes around 400+hp and close to 500ft-lbs. The motor in the 2017's is the same as the C43. The car is no slouch, it takes most cars off the line as it is awd and I believe it to feel sportier with the tune when you want it to but as comfortable as anything I have ever been in when you want it to. The 2017 does not have the touch screen but instead has the scroll knob which I think is better than the gimmicks and lag the touch screen brings with it. I installed a android box that overrides carplay so on the many road trips I have taken it so far I can watch Netflix or Youtube on my long trips. It's an amazing driving experience and when you have 6 of your buddies in the car it brings the best of times. The people in the third trunk row would wave at other drivers who would be basically staring right at them when driving behind us haha. All in all I bought the car for $55k and it had an MSRP just shy of $100k.

Subaru, take note of the cladding on this Mercedes wagon: This is how you do it tastefully, not like the Rorschach-Ink-Blot-inspired approach that's on the new WRX.

Live and learn.

Americans don't understand how beautiful wagons are.

I own a 2020 E450 wagon and its by far the nicest and most practical I've ever owned. It almost has the space of a mid-sized SUV but WAY more fun to drive with a smooth and reliable twin turbo V6 engine. Last Sep did a long distance trip from Austin TX to Toronto Canada in two days (1700 miles) and it was perfect car for that long trip. I was getting 510 miles to a tank and the seats are all day comfortable. The engine can be a tame luxury car or switch it to 'SPORT' mode and it becomes a fire breathing beast. Mine is well equipped at $74510 but bought it at year end and got it for $65760 so felt I got an awesome deal. I will never sell mine :)

FYI, the infotainment system in this 2022 AllTerrain is NOT last generation, it has MBUX (new for 2021) which is the new gen of infotainment. My 2020 E450 wagon has the previous generation. Check your facts.

"Just get a nice CUV, front wheel drive, less space than a regular car, that's all you need." Thank you Mark for being the first auto guy with an audience to "Emperor's New Clothes" the SUV/CUV trend.
