Just did the deed on a 2009 base, took me 4 hours kinda a PITA, the worst part was figuring out how the wire connectors came off, never did this before so had to figure it out, thanks for the video, the 09 console is just a little different.

Good video. I'm not a mechanic so I am a little afraid that I will break something else while trying to fix this issue. The one thing the video didn't show was how to remove the trim in the foot well on the right side of the shifter. I noticed in the video that it was off. Can you tell me how to remove it without destroying it? It seems to keep me from getting the trim off around the radio.

To get out of a jam fast, put the ignition switch into acc mode, shifter can move to neutral and start. You just won’t have brake lights. But you can move immediately, then cut the tab off when you have time

C&S corvette parts has a new plug and play harness that takes about 30 minutes to install. Kind of pricey but it has the two brand new micro switches attached so you’re good to go with no issues at all! 155.00 dollars though

Hey man I appreciate the video. I see in the comments someone mentioned you don’t have to do all this, all you have to do is push the shifter all the way forward, then press the brake, and your fix also affects keeping the door locked so you don’t fly out of the car on a corner if you accidentally hit the button… There’s always pros and cons, thanks for taking the time to show one of the options to fix this issue👍🏻

I was told and it worked if the shifter gets stuck press the brake, push the shifter slightly forward then shift. So far it has worked for me. And then name of the color is Magnetic Red. Good video though.

Just a heads up for everyone who wants other resolutions for that fix. There are two micro switches forward of the shifter assembly. The switch to the right is usually the culprit. The contacts inside the switch get dirty. Creating enough resistance to cause the actuator to fail. For the electrically inclined, the switch is a very well built switch and can be disassembled pretty easily. Once the switch is opened sanding or filing the contacts will fix the problem properly. I did it but i have a multifaceted knowledge base electro-mechanically etc. good luck. P.s. dont forget to put the shifters bright red indicator back into place. I didn’t. You didn't have to do all that, all you have to do is push the shifter forward as far as you can and hold it before stepping on the brake and then press the shifter and it will shift; try it the next time before you go through all that again with a different C6 of course.

It looks like someone was in that center console before. I don't think that zip tie is original equipment.

My C6 had the same issue! I replaced the brake petal position sensor! 26 dollars. My dealer wanted 322.67
