Thank you very much for this fantastic tutorial. It baffles me that the default greeter screen doesn't provide the option to switch desktop environment, especially if other environments are installed that are not "stock".

I ran Rasperry Pi Buster on a 7" touch screen. Many apps were bigger than the screen, so I used the "altGr" button on my keyboard to move the app windows around. Starting at Bullseye and then Bookwork, I no longer have that feature.
Will your solution solve my problem or is there a different problem?

I had to sudo update-alternatives --config x-session-manager
instead of /usr/bin/startlxde-pi
set /usr/bin/lxsession

x11 half the apps dont work, and the x11 aps wont when go back to debian pi os... tried it, its shite, and now my Pi5 is all messed up wih half xfce4 x11 half debian shit, all crossed wires. Best say on wayland and develop with it as it grows up as Pi OS

The now is not needed with sudo reboot
