Lmao!!! Some of yall take things so seriously. So what if my mom was hoping for a boy because I already had two girls. It’s not like she would’ve hated a third girl. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ and I don’t know where some of yall get off by saying you feel bad for my daughters 😭😭 my girls are a blessing. I will do anything and everything to make sure they have the best life possible. Don’t worry, I’m not your typical old school culture momma who thinks only boys are the blessing 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ so chillax, stop reading too much into it. 😂😂😂

I... really don't like this. I kinda understand the sentiment but this subject is a bit tricky in some societies.
You know, the whole "excitement" if it's a boy because of inheritance and raising him pampered only to burden him and use him when he grows up, and "disappointment" more like considering it a useless baby if it's a girl and raising her differently... To me the gender of the baby is like the color of their hair or the shape of their ears or the size of their foot. It's just an attribute. Important as it's linked to their identity, but that's it. I don't adhere to the whole gender reveal celebration thing. And I definitely don't feel any different whether a woman is pregnant with a boy or a girl. It's God's choice; how dare anyone be "disappointed" by a matter where literally nobody had a say except God? Like, it could've been that you get no baby at all. It was a favour that you got a baby (or your sister or your daughter or whoever had the baby). This is not a matter of "I like it" or "I don't like it" or "I want the other one" like we're not picking vegetables here 😅 or making a bouquet of every flower. You take what you got and you be thankful; but being happier if it's one gender than the other, to me personally, sounds very icky.

The thing is English is not my 1st language and I realise my words may seem a bit aggressive but I promise I'm not being aggressive and I'm not pointing at you Mimo or you mom, I'm talking generally when I say you, and it's late and I'm too tired to think in english and write correctly so I'm just translating from my native language lol

In my culture also male kids are seen as a blessing (although our religion says the opposite) and this one lady started SCREAMING and crying. My friend told me maybe someone she knew died? She asked her and she said "no...i have a baby girl😢" 😬

The story in itself made me so uncomfortable.

Being from a culture, where male children are preferred to female children, i always knew no one was happy that i was a girl. I think, it might be really sad for your first two girls to hear this story and feel the same way I felt when my grandparents celebrated the birth of my brother and "were looking forward to a good news" when i was born.

I guessed right 😊 How fun when we can tease our mamas a little. All the teasing we get, we can give a little back. ❤ I don’t think I’ll ever bless my parents with grandkids, but I still hope to be influential to kids in some way. I struggled so much as a teen, I just want to find a way to give back.

This might be the only time I am very uncomfortable with how nonchalant Mimo is while telling a story about the gender preference in her family. My paternal grandparents were like this, they openly said they were disappointed when I was born, ( at the hospital) and didn't come to see my mom until my brother was born. I hated them and if I would have heard my mom justifying their shitty behaviour I am not sure how sad I would be.. Your mother was okay with a girl and she jumped up with joy at a boy .. she didn't just want a healthy baby.. and dont please dont dilute the matter. I am sure you are an amazing mom to your daughters, I just wish you mother treats them equal too. I love your content and your personality Mimo, this one just made me sad . Sorry if it sounded rude.

Hahaha like how my grandma was the only girl of the house back in their days. She always tells me about how her dad spoiled her despite so many people wanted sons back then (probably bc she had 5 older brothers lmao)

That was so freakin cute! The cake, the story, and the reveal at the end for this little one. I rate this short a 1000/10 for wholesomeness.

I was too distracted by your story to guess and by the time it came around to get the answer it was too late to guess😂

These comment have completely misunderstood the story. The grandma was only upset because the WHOLE FAMILY was made up of girls. She wanted a boy for a change of pace. Lets say Mimo, her daughters, and her sister were all boys instead. Then the grandma wouldve been rooting for a girl. She just wanted a new experience in the family, and in this case, it just so happened that the experience is having a boy rather than a girl.

I get why you all may be upset, but it’s obvious, Mimo’s mom may have been ‘dissapointed’ for a BIT because she wanted to experience both genders, but if it was a girl, she would’ve eventually gotten over it and loved her as much as she loved her other grandchildren.
