Our Traxxas K10 is getting some more factory options. This time the aluminum portal housings and covers. Do you think these parts are just pretty or help with durability?

It's just pretty. I can see that upgrade if the tx4 wasn't already durable. I live by the RC Rule Book. If it's not broke don't fix it....and just keep the upgrades til there needed.

In my opinion, the front axle housing should be the first upgrade on any trx-4 as the whole assembly flexes under torque, the main culprit is the plastic knuckle to axle housing connection. A full metal housing including knuckle ends is thee fix for that 👌 2nd upgrade should be steering servo. And finally wheels and tires 👍 the portal boxes are less necessary, but they definitely add rigidity
