Great! I have a black one on order from GearBest. I saw a review where they removed the spring too (I see it on the bench at the end). Glad you went and corrected this and have gone through all the adjustments on the gimbals. Note that I have read somewhere that the Hall sensor gimbals for the X 9D would fit but have different connectors and FrSky will be releasing Q X7 versions later. Looking forward to part 2.

What a such nice radio! Great improvement over the Taranis Plus!
They should have kept the sliders on the sides like on the Taranis, more interesting for people which enjoy flying long range planes with pan/tilt FPV cameras or even old school DIY quads with custom gimbal!
There is still actually a lot of people flying mode 1 lol In France for example, most of people are flying mode 1 even the situation has changed a lot the last few years! I started flying mode 1 myself but i moved to mode 2 after :)

side note you don't need to touch the screw for the spring, that is only for gimble resistance, the second screw you adjusted will push the self center arm away and naturally put the spring under tension and the no fear of spring coming loose.

Is the small round battery inside on the right to save the memory when you take the main battery out or has it got a chip like Futaba? cheers.

Is there some trick to getting the power lead off? I can see the little notches that lock it in but I can't get them to release at all. I think I just tore a little bit of the plastic covering the blue wire when my needle nose pliers slipped.

That's a regular balance connector on the battery pack.

Did you try charging it with the USB Cable?

When you pop the TX open to remove the spring on the throttle. just replace the mini USB with a micro USB.

Any way to shorten the sticks on this (or the X9D+ which I have). I was hoping the shaft on the gimbals would unscrew. Want to try a shorter version, but afraid to break the shaft on my X9D trying to unscrew it, and like to avoid cutting (what if I decide I don't like it shorter)!

Would anyone happen to know if you can use a LiPo battery? I have used Spektrum radios up until now, and you could on those. You just had to select that you were using a LiPo in the menu. I think Pulse makes a nice 2S LiPo pack that will fit in here nicely.
