You left out the best part, he tells him it was unsatisfactory bc they were closed for hours that day.

Ralph Fiennes not getting the oscar for this role is a real shame, scariest villain I ever saw on a screen

The fact he said ‘oh Christ’ as the gun failed to fire. Subtle yet so significant. On a side note the camera work and the actors facial language is amazing.

For those confused, the hinge maker sold himself out when he made the hinge fast enough and the output he made since 6 is so little for that speed. In a time where's he is a forced labor (ww2) he basically like stealing the hinges or sabotaging the production rate. That's why he's about to be executed.

The man playing the hinge maker is called Ezra Dagan. I got the honor of acting in a play he directed. He's a wonderful man and a brilliant actor.

To think just one year later the firearm issued to officers was one of the most reliable handguns ever made . Its a trip to think how different life can become with time only .

What you have to understand about the SS and the Nazis in general is, that it was never about punishment. It was always about hate. That's why there wasn't anything the hinge maker could have done differently to beat this supposed "challenge". If he tried doing it slowly as to justify the smaller pile, he would have been accused of not being fast enough and shot nonetheless.

You can see this exact behavior throughout the whole movie. There's another scene where a female jewish architect who's in charge of building the barracks of a concentration camp raises the officers attention about the structural flaws of the building and that it has to be rebuilt to prevent collapse. He shoots her and then still orders the barrack to be torn down and rebuilt. Would she not have said anything and the barracks would have collapsed, he would have shot her for not telling him this was going to happen.

We're not talking about rational thinking humans here. It was never about punishment.
I think the movie shows this perfectly and that's why it's so incredibly good and why in my opinion everyone should have seen it at least once. Especially today.
Greetings from Germany.

If you pay attention, no rounds came out during the rechambers meaning the gun wasn't loaded

One man saved so many lives during this period of history. Shindlers list watch it if you get the chance. True story.

What I love the most is that they tried to give color to a black and white film, and the photography turned out exactly as if it were from a video camera from the time when the events took place. This film can definitely be shown on classic movie TV channels, even though the film is from 1992, the year I was born.

This is the scariest movie I have ever seen. It feels so real, and it is heartbreaking.

The fact that this movie is black and white and to see it in color is seriously cool.
