Try to pick luxidoor next time. They get more stars from the beginning

I swear bro, 900 tile maps with all tribes on crazy are only difficult because of the sheer amount of resources your body needs to pump into your brain to keep it from shutting down by turn 50.

That 40-unit knight chain was a sight to behold
Edit: After watching the video, I can confidently say that I would never attempt this challenge on crazy difficulty. I’ll stick to doing it on easy.

The best 900 tile maps are just water worlds and archipelagos because with battleships, lower village density, and open seas, there's less unit density and less of the slow tile-by-tile crawl forward.
EDIT: the most exciting part of large tile games are the midgame, where you just reach the point where you become the major power of the field. After the point when victory is just a matter of mop-up, the game grows stale.

I play 900-tile drylands maps for fun, although rarely against only bots. On a map that size, the game easily goes on for long enough that every surviving tribe is at or near a full tech tree. As an added bonus, that means that, in the early game, you have to choose between achieving short-term gains and ensuring the very, very long-term success of your tribe.

Once we enter the ultra-late game, the real fun begins: optimising small-scale tactical battles to achieve large-scale strategic objectives and backing it all up with a massive logistical system (read: knights on roads from the most distant cities).

Finding ways to breach a determined defence or break a bloody stalemate is a lot of fun. It's a puzzle, but without the cooldowns and ads and microtransactions that accompany so many mobile puzzle games.

TURN 40: It baffles me that the AI will STILL train a cloak in a city with an ennemy unit right beside it ready to kill it. Same thing for a warrior hitting a defender while staying in its city with 1 hp.

Hey gullyy, I just wanted to say thank you for bringing a little joy into my life. I'm experiencing some rough times but your videos always make me feel a little better.

-lost 190 units
-still won 81% of battles
-Gully's units took part in 1000 battles

The way he so calmly discuses his plans for action about going to war against the other factions sounded so assured and steadfast like Winston Churchill. I’m also really high

It's more bearable if you do continents, because you can siege different continents and spice things up

Fun game: Take a shot each time gullyy says:
"We got some cities here- no, we got more"

"I'm going to skip the first 30 turns and try to win. Not sure if it's even possible"

Proceeds to steamroll the entire Map in the next 30 turns.

Seeing the size of his capital from all the road connections at the end was just too good 😆

I love playing 900 tile lake maps, usually with around 5-6 enemies. Usually, I stretch 1 game across like a week for mental sanity purposes but I love the development of multiple independent fronts.

My main doctrine revolves heavily around knights, mind benders, defenders, and catapults. I try to keep my troop deaths as low as possible and usually wind up with around 97% battle stats at the end of a game, which is why mind benders are used. Additionally, having mind benders existing around cities means I can convert daggers from cloak spam with 0 losses and no pop cap reduction.

I still feel as if ai cloak spam is absolutely ridiculous as some matches where I thought I might lose I actually won because AI abandons defense or combined arms attack for cloak spam which is solved by deforestation and knights or mind benders in mountanous terrain

The end just summarizes all massive endgames for 900 tile maps: I see unit- I kill unit. I see city- I take city. I see bot- bot dead

I played a 900 tile map with 16 bots on crazy and I spent over 7-10 hrs on it. I also did it on continents and got the smallest and worst continent. It was fun but each turn was like 20 minutes(I think it was 70 turns or so). It was also pre alliances so I couldn’t just focus on 1 tribe and had to fight practically all at once.

900 tiles maps are fun when you inagine the lore and world building of every city and situation. But yeh the worst part of polytopia is when you know you already won but have to finish off the IAs
