Has Xi Jinping lost power to three Party Elders?

The question of who really controls the CCP and China has sparked intense debate, fueled by growing speculation about political struggles, Xi Jinping’s health, loss of power, and possible stepping down. Earlier this week, I shared a bombshell report from Beijing, claiming that three 82-year-old Party elders are secretly in charge. Some see this as long-awaited justice, while others believe it’s a smokescreen for deeper political maneuvers. Is Xi still running the show, or has he become just a figurehead? Are the Party elders preparing for a full transition? And if so, how long can they keep up the illusion? Let’s dive in.

Lei - If you go back to China, please keep us informed of your observations. Expand your youtube presence.

Your observations are well researched and thought out, and your low key, matter of fact presentation gives you immense credibility.

This kind of speculations and uncertainties have occurred since about 5 years ago and it is still murky.

The composition of the CCP leadership in China matters, but not as much as you think. This may be the legacy of Deng Xiaoping. Unlike the absolute dictatorship of the three Kims of North Korea where the cult of personality presides over ideology, in China the CCP ideology presides more than the dictator. The reason is probably because that China is a much larger country than North Korea and has much more regionalized multipole variances in provinces there, and absolutist centralisation dictatorship really does not work well there. Hence, the Politbureau does poltically and administratively matter in Beijing than the rubber-stamp operation in Pyongyang.

With the dearth of the Gang of Four, the overt cult of personality leadership by Mao Zedong has probably ended in China. However, with the sidelining of Xi Jinping the CCP leadership may have evolved into a triumvirate (suggested by Lei). Hence, the CCP for a while is less stable during this transition peiod internally and externally than it was when XI was in full control.

" It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma." Winston Churchill used this phrase to describe Soviet policy in 1939. But it is an even better description of CCP politics behind the scenes. We have no way of what is going on behind the scenes.

Spontaneous order is the nature of humans. Adam Smith defines the nature of spontaneous order puts it, "an individual who "intends only his own gain" is led by an invisible hand to promote an end which was no part of his intention. Nor is it always the worse for the society that it was no part of it. By pursuing his own interest he frequently promotes that of the society more effectually than when he really intends to promote it.
I have never known much good done by those who affected to trade for the public good." ... "an individual who intends only to serve the public interest by fostering government intervention is "led by an invisible hand to promote" private interest, "which was no part of his intention."
'Order spontaneous emergence of order out of seeming chaos. Spontaneous orders are created, controlled, and controllable by no one, are distinguished by being scale free networks.' ref: Free to Choose by Milton Friedman and Wikipedia

Spontaneous order seems always to lag. It is slow because of the high fraction of the population that must come to the same realization and the same path forward without a hierarchy to direct it.
Xi Jinpings' informers have nothing because no structure exist to implement spontaneous order. It is individual decisions make without consulting. As Adam Smith would say an invisible hand. The choice of these leaders is just an unspoken consensus.

Great talk Lei! And great come back on the sad little-pink. I hope he gets rid of all the poop in his heart, and turns on a new leaf.

Speculating about CCP leadership is about as productive as guessing the right numbers for a lottery.
Of course someone might get them right, but we have no way of knowing until after the fact.
