In an isolated region in the west of Nepal, lies the land of the river people, the Rajis. They live on a day-to-day basis on the fish they catch and the gold dust they collect. One day, the goddess Kanyakumari threw a handful of gold dust into the river to thank the Rajis for helping her to cross to the other side of the river. The golden dust settled on the fish: and that is how the legend of the golden mahseer was born. Fakir Bahadur, the chief of the Raji village of Ghatgaon, and his son go up the Karnali river in search of the golden mahseer, the fish of gods.

I got goosebumps! Growing up we also ground our corn kernels in stone mill because the village where I was born and raised in the Philippines didn’t have electricity in those times. Simple life yet full of respect and love. Children don’t lose hope, one day you will do great that your ancestors can be proud of. Some of you will leave one day and find a greener pastures, but like me, I am sure you will always look back and never forget where You came from.❤️❤️❤️

Being a Nepalese 🇳🇵, I know about 15 years ago. There wasn't any telecommunications and other means of facilities. Now, it has change a lot. Primitive life is the best life and want to explore once again.
The documentry seems too much older than my age.
Thanks 😊 for this wonderful documentary 🙏.

What a beautiful documentary is this.
Every thing is too perfect.
Raji population is here in my state uttarakhand has a significant history.
These people taught us how to live with harmony by balancing the man and nature contribution together and I think this is the real way to live in this world.

I love these documentaries. They showed up in my recommended, and I have been watching at least one a day for a while! The narration style, humble topics and overall representation of niche and culturally rich groups and nationalities are spot on.

Beautiful documentary based on Golden Masheer. The legendary golden scale of this game fish is wonderfully depicted within the spirit of a holy deity Kanyakumari showering blessings of gold dust carried on its fins and scales to deliver in the river system for these nomadic people to collect and prosper. May these Masheers multiply in abundance.
