In the Assembly elections 2021 in Assam, large parts are Muslim majority seats dominated by the AIUDF. The All India United Democratic Fund (AIUDF) has large support from the Bengali origin Muslims of Assam. Earlier there had been a rift in the AIUDF and Congress alliance and All India Mahila Congress President Sushmita Dev sent a letter to party president Sonia Gandhi expressing her desire to resign from her post and quit the party.
Dev is unhappy about Congress giving away a majority of the 15 seats to its ally AIUDF for polls on 27 March, 1st April and April 6. Hojai holds Congress-AIUDF joint rally for the upcoming polls. Watch out!
