She might not make rock music, but why does that matter. That album is so good. Anyway, he's comparing her "rise to fame" as being like Nirvana, not the music.

Dave's high and doing interviews again, heads up.

I've listened to a few songs... I do not consider this rock music at all.

Putting one hell of a target on her back by comparing her to Nirvana.

"Nirvana's rise to fame is never seen before and after!!!"
Grohl: Not really. Have you seen this Eilish kid?
Breaking news: Dave Grohl thinks Billie Eilish is just like Nirvana!

This couldnt be farther from the truth.

Nirvana were a grassroots band that earned their keep. Billie Ellish is a silver spoon kid with extremely wealthy and connected parents, and her brother writes most of her material. Her first release got a film placement, with high budget music videos to follow.

People like billie Ellish are why the music industry is on its head now. People that dont have that kind of capital and resources behind them barely stand a chance anymore. its disgusting.

Are you all really that closed-minded?

Nirvana- A band that wasn't well-recieved in the genre, and was outcasted due to their highly straight-forward lyrics without filter.

Billie- An artist that still isn't well-recieved in the Pop industry due to her straight-forward shots at the industry itself without filter.

It's not just about the music.

Maybe calling Billie the literal future or light of rock was a little bit tough, but I think that Dave said that because of the stuff that Billie does in her music; she probably isn't a titanic game-changing star, but she's challenging the typical shapes of pop (I also consider hip-hop, trap and EDM inside of the "pop umbrella"), and by doing that, she's getting ultra recognized in the mainstream scene (according to Dave, in a similar way that Nirvana did, in their case, inside of the rock scene).

Gotta love how close minded the rock/metal community is.

Rock scene? No. Talent? More than most pop artists I’ll admit. Unique? Yes. No more partying songs.

Just went and watched her video for "Bury a Friend" and yeah no she is nowhere close to being on Nirvana's level. And this is coming from a person who doesn't like Nirvana by the way.

(Not the fan of nirvana btw.)

You know what I’m sick of? People acting like Kurt Cobain was the second coming of Christ. I love nirvana but seriously, not only are they not the best band ever, they’re not even the best grunge band ever.
Kurt was a selfish-mentally ill man who happened to be a very good songwriter, he was not without flaws like many people seem to suggest.

Everyone who hates on Dave grohl is too hung up on Nirvana to listen to the FF’s without Bias because A, they’re too old, B, they’re too ignorant, or C, they think success is bad(even though it’s exactly what nirvana did)

Nirvana is way better than Billie Eilish ever could be.

I'm metalhead and Billie Eilish has a lot potential in her music

Kurt is scowling at you from heaven, Dave.

If there's a rock band today who captures the magic of Nirvana (not the sound), it's Men I Trust. A trio with a blonde-haired singer, who who have really blown up in the last year and have a highly anticipated LP coming out soon. Very creative, very independent, determined to do things on their own terms.

Seeing as how Dave is a mainstream commercial, I'm not surprised he would say this garbage lol

Billie Eilish is dope. I honestly see the comparison. Both respective artists rose to fame because of how genuine their music was among a sea of boring prepackaged music made for the masses. It's pretty cool.
