Hi, people of Northern Macedonia!
Please excuse my ignorance, as a British citizen, from what I have been taught in school and according to what the commentator states, "Alexander the Great, spread hellenistic culture and Greek language from Greece all the way to India", then the "Byzantines / Eastern Romans" would also speak Greek and Latin.

So why does North Macedonia not speak Greek, then? or some form of Latin like Romanians do? And why isn't it part of Greece, but a separate country? Also, the commentator points out that the ethnic backgrounds of the country are Bulgarian, Albanian, Turks, and Roma. So, no Greeks at all? And why does the flag look Japanese anime? I love Japanese anime, by the way! It's a cool looking flag!
Yet the entire story is so captivating, and I'm so confused..😅

We are Macedonians and we speak the Macedonian language, and in order to progress we need to get rid of the claims of the Bulgarians and the Greeks. The Greeks are opposed because in 1913, after the withdrawal of the Turkish Empire and the division of Macedonia into 3 parts, Greece received 51 percent of the territory which today it is called Macedonia and the Bulgarians behave like Nazis and claim that the Macedonian language is Bulgarian because we understand each other like the Serbs.

Macedonian is actually a Bulgarian dialect. That's the reason when on Bulgarian televisions they interview Macedonians, they don't translate it - it's just a dialect which everyone understands. Same dialect is spoken in south-west region of Bulgaria.
