Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 TH Dual Thunderbolt Motherboard Unboxing

The Gigabyte Z77X-UP5 TH has TWO Thunderbolt ports to go with its overclocking features, and support for SLI and Crossfire multi way GPU configurations. As you probably noticed, I filmed this a while ago but forgot to upload it. Hence the old studio.

I'm glad you were able to recover the NCIS tech tips video library. I don't know the method you used to get them back, but still. I thoroughly believes it preserves history, and is honestly a bit nostalgic for me, seeing these older vids. Thank you.

have one of these boards paired with i5-3570K 3.8ghz, 16gb of ram and ssd, old GTX950Ti, works well and had built it like 5 yrs ago, still kicking ass and taking names

Woah, that is one DENSE wiring in that PCB, there is lots of conections running everywhere. Props to the engineers behind that, impressive.

Yes, Crossfire and SLI is for a technology that allows you to use two graphics cards at the same time, you can use a dedicated grpahics card in your board

Woah, Dezel, great shooting :) Always in focus, smooth zooming, just great. At first I thought it was Slick who was shooting, but he appeared back there and knew it was Dezel, and for those who say is BRoll, this video was shooted before he entered the crew

He meant to say Onboard Intel Video, not audio.

Most include either PS/2 to USB adaptors or have a USB connector version, but PS/2 is always the base. PS/2 allows to truly utilize the potential of a mech keyboard - as every click is being actually sent. At it's base, USB has a bottleneck of 6-key rollover (it blocks when you spam a key or press more than 6 simultaneously). Some manufacturers work around it to provide 16, 20 or even n-key rollover, but it requires additional resources. Also, USB connector introduces input lag and some CPU load.

Use volume control. It's at the bottom right of your screen. Sometimes there is even a function on the keyboard to turn the volume up and down. If you kept your keyboard manual (which no doubt you did) then you can find instructions in there. If you still have problems hearing the sound then check out WebMD and describe your problem as best as possible under the "symptom checker".

I agree, I like my all black Gigabyte - but still it's great to see them changing it up and making great looking and performing boards.

Less CPU usage, no input lag, n-key rollover (Quickfire is one of very few, and only affordable mech kb that offers that on USB). Most companies make the PS/2 version and add an adapter, and sometimes not even that. Native USB connector are actually pretty rare, and offered mostly by models like Razer Black Widow, which to mech kb fans are like Alienware PC's to PC building enthusiasts.

Linus, I think you made @ 9:08 when you say that Thunderbolt will only work with your onboard audio for video transcoding.

What you meant was actually Thunderbolt uses the onboard video on the CPU to work since Thunderbolt depends on the platform.

you can run sli on any of those ports but the 2 16x slots is optimal because they will give the same bandwith

This board looks really good! I'd wish that there were more matx boards with matte black pcb's.
