You've got to be your own man, not a puppet on a string

People need to hear this now more than ever

My father taught me that "The harder I work the luckier I get" and his comment turned out to be so true.

Dad taught Sunday School nearly 40 years, worked swing shift at a steel mill 24 years, dug wells, ran a garbage company, and 20 years as a high school janitor . He battled cancer 16.5 years. What did he teach me? Good faith and hard work will take you far. As veterans, we (you included) LIVED this song.

My dad has always told me “Don’t start a fight but if someone starts its you better be the one to finish it. And for damn sure better not walk away.”

When music truly had a message about morals, values, ethics, integrity and honor - things my father taught me throughout my life. My dad was always my hero.

I believe it wholeheartedly and father taught me to respect my elders and respect has to be given before received.

My dad always told me "Opinions are like armpits. Everybody has them and most of them stink."😁 Thanks Dad

My daddy taught my brothers and i never let each other leave the house or hang up the phone or go to bed without saying you love each other no matter how mad you are at them or even giving them the silent treatment for whatever reason if they leave the house or whatever make sure to tell them you love them cause you never know if thats the last time youll see them.

After we got our Driver's Licenses everytime we would leave the house he would always say "Remember there are more fools on the road besides you" 😆

My dad & I had a crappy relationship, but it's a good lesson:
"Don't go starting fights - but if someone starts one with you, you damn well end it. And you end it swiftly, brutally, and efficiently, and make sure it's publicly seen if the guy's a d* k. Because if anyone else wants to f*ck with you, they'll think twice if they see it." And it's true. I was the target for bullies a lot when I was a kid, but once I applied that to my life, the bullying thing eased off quiet a bit.

Fun fact: At the beginning of the song, the boy draws a line In the sand.... old school fighting rules... cross the line and then fight. (I’m showing my age🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️) God bless you, Billy. 🇺🇸🙏♥️💙🚂🐥🐥🐥

My did didn’t directly teach me anything, as he left when I was 4, but how that hurt me made me promise to be the best father I can be, because I never want anyone to feel the pain I did.

My dad taught my sister and I, you see someone who needs help, you help them. Stand up for others.

Met Aaron once. He seemed to live the life he sings about.

Can you please do a VETERAN REACTION to "Ships That Don't Come In" by Joe Diffie? It's a powerful song. Thanks
