In this video, we'll bring an early 1950's Walter Hagen "The Haig" ULTRA back to life in a full, end-to-end restoration video. This club has a pinned-shaft, a leather grip, and a lot of rust on the face. The steps were abbreviated for time considerations of the video. Total plating time was 2 hours at 4.25 volts dc and 1 amp.

I just found a Walter Hagen 2 iron at a thrift store and searched for videos about it. You did an awesome job bringing it back!

In some cases, the steel used in these clubs is better than today. Some of the methods were better as well and certainly the craftsmanship. This really applies when you get into the art of persimmon woods.

Wow. I use to try metal etching and now there’s this. I have pretty good access to old rusty clubs. I wonder how expensive it would be to get the tools for this. I’m inspired.

Thanks for the videos! Looking to start this for a hobby to pay my greens fees.

I wonder if you could do a video where you do a full resoration as well but without the buffer wheel machine? More for showing people how to do this type of stuff at home when they dont have some of the tools. Maybe use a drill bit instead etc

Another great looking project. No dilemma in whether to hit them or not, they were made to be hit and they can always be redone if you need to. Question about the nickel plating, how is it holding up? Does it stay bright or does it tarnish?

One of the best restoration projects I’ve seen on here! What type of media do you use to blast the club face?

Love the channel. How long does the plating solution last? Also have you experimented with chrome plating at all?

Hey Brad love the videos that you put out and i myself am having a crack at restoring a couple of wedges. I had a quick question on this video, when you were using the electro cleaning solution and then running the electrical current to the solution via an anode/cathode on the positive side, what was the anode made of ? Was it stainless steel/aluminium? Keep up the good work.

Do you “shine” the faces then use the media blaster or do you take it straight to the club?

Fantastic work! Love the vids

Hi Brad,

I am on your amazon store and would like to consult what to purchase:

For the Deburring and Sanding Phase
1) Jet Grinder or Powertech Buffer?
2) 180 grit Wheel by 3M Scotch-Brite or finer such as 320 or 600?
3) Sandpaper 400 grit?

Polishing (Sisal Wheel)
4) Scottchen Buffing Wheel
5) Caswell Buffing Compound
6) yellow buffing wheel 42 ply
7) Loose Cotton Whell 50 ply

Face conditioning
8) LE LEMATEC Sand Blaster?
9) Interactivia Sand Blasting

In this video, you did plating first then the blasting. In other video, you did the opposite. Any reason? Just curious

Why do you strip the chrome? Wouldn't the deburring wheel strip it?
