Finally!! We got to go where it all began...Ikea in Sweden where we partook in Swedish meatballs and a Fika break. Before that however, we visited the incredible Vasa Museum to see a ship that sank in the 1600's.

Aubrey was a Speech-Language Pathologist, Donnie was graphic designer, but we both had a dream to travel the world and experience cultures. After three years of being married and dreaming about if something like this great adventure would be possible, we decided to quit the rat race and take on the world. We sold everything we had, quit our jobs, and took off! We don't know how long we will get to do this, and we do have a goal of getting jobs in the UK eventually, but we are going to live it to the fullest while we can!

Hi! I’m from Sweden and the ship wasn’t really a Viking ship, it was actually built for the Swedish king at the time. It sank on it’s first ever ride. Btw, I really like your channel!

The problem with the Wasa was a incapability issue. The king wanted more more guns, which caused the ship to be top heavy. As a result they royal court instituted a council tasked with capability issues for military systems. That agency remains as a governmental agency under our defense ministry today.

The Viking age ended long before the Wasa was built. So when you talk about a Viking boat, you are probably thinking about a longboat which is a flat bottomed boat that can travel shallow waters and makes it excellent for raiding. It usually has one mast for a sail, a steering oar on starboard side and ports for oars.

ITS NOT A VIKING SHIP!!! Please, the Viking era ended several hundred years before the Vasa ship was built. Anyway, welcome to Sweden!

This ship was built in the 1620s... The viking age was year700-1000. Viking age ships were small and slim, best of the time worldwide, you can google.
This ship the Vasa ship was laying on the bottom of the sea for 333 years, in the middle of Sthlm, and it was forgotten and then rediscovered and rescued in the 1960s.

It is Lingonberry :)
Hope you enjoyed your stay!

Is not cranberry sauce with those meatballs. It is jam made from lingon berries, very traditional. Also, IKEA-meatballs... It is like comparing a dry, rubbery McDonalds burger to a homemade big juicy burger. Cranberries do exist in Sweden but is seldom really used. The viking era is apr between late 700-1100 AD, Scandinavian iron age.

You seem a bit confused about the difference between Viking and Swedish. Vikings are not a specific people. It's a word for people living in southern Sweden and neighboring areas during the Viking age (around 700-1050 AD). Sometimes it's used for everybody living here at that time, sometimes only for the raiders. The Vasa ship is also very different from a Viking ship.

I personally don't think the Vasa would look out of place in one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, it's a little bit too early I think but still close enough! The Viking age is usually said to last until around the year 1000 ad, so that's like 600 years off! I've heard a lot of people call the Vasa a Viking ship though, so I can understand the confusion xD Loved the vid btw!

Vinking era ended 1066 at the Battle of Hastings. This ship, Vasa, was built during 1600s.

You seem like nice people, but damn do you need to learn basic history. Sort of the same as looking at the colloseum in rome and thinking, ”this medieval fort looks awesome”. I like you and your channel though, keep it up.

Ikea is im afraid a big no, no.
All Swedish men hate it and the
IKEA MEATBALLS are really not the best. But on a budget its ok..
Its a bit like an ordinary shool lunch.
