At The Dance (Eric Coates) - 4/32 Wonder Morton

Here we go with an Orchestral piece from the pen of Britain's finest writer of light music, Eric Coates (1886 - 1957). This wonderful concert waltz comes from one of his earlier works, the 1919 "Summer Days Suite" and displays all of the hope and joy of a country just emerging from the first World War. This was the year he gave up his career playing viola professionally to concentrate on his writing.

Here the organ shows a little of why they were called "Unit Orchestras" and this virtual Robert Morton sample set does it so well.

What a lovely tune played beautifully by Ian, but it brings back rather different memories than you might expect by me, when as a young boy glued to the radio in impatient desperation, waiting for my daily radio programme at 6.45 pm. It was the James Bond of my day then preceded by its signature tune "The Devils Gallop" for Dick Barton special agent!

A great waltz Iain and refreshing to hear some of Coates work too. The Wonder Morton sounds full and rich, a fabulous sound.
