This is a review of a yellow ink Pelikan Edelstein Golden Beryl.

Here on the channel there is a new ink review(s) posted weekly. I get inks test them and share the results with you, so you know before you buy. General thoughts on the ink are given. Five different pens are used to get a varied experience with the ink. Two chromatogaphies are done, one done correctly and one after the ink has dried for 10 min. A resistance test is done on Rhodia paper and is tested for how it performs when you highlight the writing, water, pen flush and 1/3 bleach solution are also tested. There is also a nib, pen and paper recommendation for this ink. The writing sample is an excerpt from J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" Books.

It is important with this and all reviews to remember I am not an expert. I am just a nerd with a camera and an opinion. I expect my opinion to mostly be wrong as it is just my solitary opinion, make your own judgement and don’t follow group think. There always seems to be some variation of an ink, pen or paper. These are things out of my control and I can only give my opinion on what I have in-front of me. If your opinions are different I encourage you to share them in the comments but please rememberI am an amateur just having fun…. Also, me and everyone else you interact with on the internet is an actual human on the other end of the computer, they might be having a bad day and your kind words might be the best thing that happens to them that day.

All pictures for this video were taken by me, including the background picture which I made or transformed in photoshop and the video is edited on Adobe Premier Pro. Also, every element for this video was made by me. I am in shock if you have actually read this much of the description, if you have comment and let me know you found this.

Thanks for reading. .

How odd! This is a great ink for a shimmer ink: wet, visible and lots of fun as well as easy to clean out. I think a lot gets lost through the lighting in your video. It's obviously not an ink for everyday use (nor is it marketed as such), but on non-white paper, Kraft paper or black cardboard it's fantastic, particularly for those wishing to write Christmas cards or greeting cards. I don't normally use shimmer ink but this really convinced me as a special occasion ink. It's worth saying that even vintage pens deal well with this ink. Shame you didn't warm to it.

A small technicality: it is a rhodia notebook, but it is cairefontaine paper. So the chapter name: rhodia paper is incorrect. The diff is minor, as they are brands in the same corporation, and probably they are done in the same factory.

There are only a few yellow inks that are useable -- Platinum Citrus Black (Iron Gall, turns must darker), Another (mostly) readable yellow is R & K Helianthus (orange leaning). But readable pure yellow? Offhand I can't think of one. I belive you are still in the the Lobachevsky chapter, but it's hard to read.

I will be completely honest, Adam. While I don’t intend to use Golden Beryl for everyday use, this is an ideal ink for signing on Christmas cards… but only if it’s on a wet, juicy broad-nibbed pen.

The yellow ink, combined with the gold particles, make it even harder to see what’s written. I’m not sure about getting a sample, although I might try it on my Jinhao x750 with a wet medium to see how it looks. And I might possibly look to trying on yellow paper.

Desert camouflage ink, designed to be hard to see.

This is a hard pass for me. I frankly fail to see the use of an ink that you can't see on the page!
