I just decided yesterday it is time, I probably should not put off cataract surgery much longer. It is just I have vision only in that one eye and I didn't want to have the surgery any sooner than necessary. I am in my mid-70's. Wish they had that robotic assist now.

Well that's it. I'm definitely getting my next eye surgery done by a robot. 10x more precise is not something you can just ignore. I'm willing to wait to get my floaters removed for good, and my cataracts as well ... in 5 years maybe, when these are mainstream?

Because surgeries right now, while amazing have many flaws still.

We are just at the beginning. Robots will become faster and more precise than humans. In countries like the US and the UK, where you can sue anybody (especially your doctor) for anything, lawyers will finally have a hard time preying upon the medical profession because robotic surgery will become the professional standard with which you cannot argue. Looking forward to it. Same goes for FSD cars - good luck suing the AI for an accident! The biggest hurdle will be the certification process, because the certifying authority will have to assume responsibility here, not only the manufacturer. And if there is anything a bureaucrat really hates it is being responsible. But maybe manufacturer and bureaucrat find a way out - all blame goes to the doctor who pushed the green button! "Sue me, I'm a doctor". This is a big issue - why else do you think are they already using all these robots in Europe but not so much in Anglosaxony?

One generation away from no one being able to perform any surgery without the machines. And humans continue to devolve.
