Pretty cool cam! Aberration correction is usually about getting rid of blue / green (etc) color outlines around dark items with bright back light. For example, take your bike off a sweet ramp with the cam on the ground looking up at you with a bright sky behind you. If the camera exposes for you there will be a better chance of getting it. At lest that's when I get it on my camera.

I appreciate your honesty when you say you want to make sure everybody knows where stuff is coming from. thanks. keep up the great videos

I have to agree with your comment about an action camera needing to come with a protective case.
I'm not a water guy, but there are plenty of people who want an action cam to swim, surf, canoe, jet-ski, or even record their fishing adventures.
So I'd say a waterproof case is mandatory for any/all action cams.
Well, unless all you want it for is to record your cat sleeping on the living room couch.
(you're allowed to grin at that last comment)

My 5 month shipping wait is over! I get mine this week. So keen to try this since I will most likely get the Hero 7 soon as well, a very interesting comparison.

And I have dropped it numerous times from heights up to 4 feet on concrete...and the bugger still works....and has not audio blows ...no lie ..so I do the TEDD and sync in bought the Mijia gimbal and it is rock an fyi....so excited you reviewed it my

Honestly that’s a really good camera. The distortion can be fixed in editing. Not a big deal. Probably the best action camera for your buck. Maybe even perfect for youtubers starting out for any video purpose

EDD! Awesome reviews. I was wondering though, did you experience any issues with Wi-Fi connectivity or auto shut off with the Mijia? That's one aspect I would love to see added to the Mighty Pillars! I've heard really good things and want to like this camera, but Wi-Fi control is crucial for me and if the App is worthless it will ruin my experience with an otherwise Great camera!

Hi there from Australia, I bought one of these and used it for the first time today. Great little camera for what I do but upon checking my footage I was surprised to see the field of view to be the same as a 24mm (on 35mm film) lens … or 84 degrees. The specs say it should be 145 degrees. Should I have lens distortion on or off? Thanks heaps. Dwayne

My favorite budget Gopro-like action cam is the Eken H9. It's only 24fps at 4k but I only use 1080p at 60fps. I don't have enough computer to easily edit 4k video. It has a 2 inch display, but it's not touch screen. I've tried several other budget action cams and they all had horrible video quality. I really have nothing bad to say about the Eken H9 though. They're only $45 to $50 so you don't feel horrible if you lose or destroy it. Which means I can use it in places I wouldn't use a real Gopro. I set it in the mud without the waterproof housing, mount it on RC trucks, wear it on my chest, strap it on my dog. I have two H9's, one I've had about 4 years, I liked it so well I bought a second one about a year ago. I really abuse them and they just keep on working. They come with lots of Gopro mounts, waterproof case, and two batteries.

Have you had any issues with any of your Yi or GoPro cameras so far?
Would you recommend the Yi 4k if I wouldn't be using the stabilization and just using it for the video quality or is there something better?

I've been using 1 canon g7x & 3 sjcam4000's for like 3 years now mounted on a Samson MK-10 boom mic using their frame mount + a 1/4 male to female thread - And they still work fine (though I don't know if one is a fake or not, but it still works lol) BUT, one of my cameras gave out on me the other day..

I think I've narrowed it down to these, but if you know something else that would fit my needs better Please let me know. Cuz if the one I get is way better than my Sjcam's then I might get 2 more (so, cost is a factor)

GoPro Hero 5 Black refurbished = $220 each ($170 after $50 trade in for my sjcam4000)
Yi Lite = $100 -- as seen in many videos from The Everyday Dad
Yi-4K (not 4K+) = $150 from their website...but no trade in offered.

*I do like that the GoPro Hero 5 Black has the Linear mode (cuz fish eye looks weird on drums), but didn't know till now that Yi 4k has basically the same thing!
**I also use Screenflow 7, if that makes a difference with those cameras above.

These will be for YouTube drum videos, SO...
1. I don't really need stabilization (unless it will help with #6)
2. I don't need great audio (I get that edited)
3. Great vid quality in 1080p 30fps, 60fps Max (if I feel like it would look cool to use 60fps)
4. Good in "low-light" situations (filming in a living room without room lights on, using 2 neewer 176 led lights pointed on me & drums)
5. Adjustable ISO, Exposure, White Balance, etc
6. I've noticed my bass drum does cause the video to shake with my Canon G7X (1st one, not mark 2), but that could just be because it's heavy while attached to my boom stand.
7. Durable (I drop shit sometimes lol)
8. Decent battery life

Thoughts? 🤔🤔
Thanks in advance! 😊

I opted for the YI Lite instead. I also grabbed a CPL polarized filter and my footage is outstanding. The Mijia is a nice camera at a higher price point though.

Hi
I’ve tested a lot of cameras. And the action camera does have one thing in common, Small sensors. If one should upgrade to something with a bigger sensor. Still in a compact format. Do you have any recommendations?
