Beautiful and inspiring message! Your audience can notice all this love and everything you said in your arrangements and in the way you play. Thank you!

I’m always motivated to practice because I know that the YouTube Legends (you, Eddie Van Der Meer, AwF, etc.) were once beginners that decided to work hard.

seeing your peers, especially younger than you, being more skilled and talented than you is demolishing.

my frustration comes from the pressure that i am constantly reminded that someone is better than me; working hard for a technique you've dedicated your effort, then seeing them nail it in just days.. DAYS.

Hi there Nathan, this video is exactly what I was looking for. Three years ago, my obsession for absolute control over the classical guitar led me to a misguided search of perfection and virtuosism, which resulted in my right hand developing of musicians focal dystonia... i remember finding your first youtube channel and got really crazy about your arrangements, you are a tremendous musician and i love your arrangements, but back in the day, it did hurt me so much to hear such beautiful talent so out of my reach... i thought it was the end of my classical guitar playing. Long story short, after a lot of things and many big desicions made, today i am back at with my strings flipped the other way, rebuilding my musicality and my technique but this time as a lefty player. I've been using this quarantine months to retrain myself and taking joy from every second of this new oportunity, slowly and step by step. A few days back i found your new Academy channel and after watching this video i can't thank you enough for the message, i never saw control in the way you explain it and it really opened my mind. I already saw your other uploads and i think you got a very interesting and updated sense of musical training and now im suscribed waiting for more! After that big setback im ready to truly start enjoying my music and yours too! Thank you very much!

I'm living in France, confined to my house since march 16th, and probably for another 4+ weeks. For sure, my guitar is one of the things that's going to get me through this period :)
Take care and stay safe Nathan and you all !

So awesome of you to share this. I can't imagine you ever being burnt out on guitar. After hearing you explain why and how, I get it. I love your idea of control with the guitar. We can always learn more and be better, each and every day!!! Love the motto: Enjoy the control you have over the guitar!!! Thanks Nathan!

Wow, this is so true! You have definitely encouraged me the last year to learn and grow as a classical guitar player. I even went out and bought a new Takamine lol. Yes the guitar is a challenge, but I enjoy it as well. Idc if I play in front of anyone or not. I play the guitar for me...it really is a healing instrument. Be safe brother.

Man... this is really impoartant for people to hear. I remember a few years ago I left a guitar lesson and just cried because of how frustrated and upset I was with myself for how I was playing. I was very young when this happend but what your saying is so true. If you take a step back and realize how simple it is to slow down and take up step back, life with a guitar gets so much easier. Thanks for the video!

Thank you for the message! It is so true. The beauty of playing guitar: the more I put in effort, the more it gives back ❤ Even better when I arrangement my own material and play whatever inspires and touches me!

Hey Nathan, I purchased your mandalorian music thanks for that by the way. I’m having a hard time with the hand positions. Is there anyway you could do a tutorial on that? Thank you for all that you do!

With me it was 30 years of frustration with everything skipping me by narrow margin like feet to scant miles and it absolutely ruined my life because of this proverb where everything i wanted to be a part in would skip me when everyone else wasnt skipped. Severe depression plagued my life autism and bipolar disorder. But when it came to guitar the goals i had were the easiest thing i ever did and i never had a lesson. What people dont understand is the player should play what the player likes listening to. What ever genre. I cant play blues many licks a minute but that was NOT my goal or desire. I wanted to rock and got there and i play daily and AM HAPPY.

One good thing about lockdown, I now have no excuse to put off my practice.
