Problem Tree Analysis provides a clear structure for team members to explore the root causes of an identified problem as well as the effects. While this may seem like a straightforward exercise, this type of analysis often leads to deeper discussion in terms of how one action impacts another, and can challenge team members to re-examine their own perceptions of a problem and its true antecedents.

Exploring the many roots and branches of the problem tree can also help determine priorities for taking action, as well as issues that may be beyond the scope or power of the team. This is a great method to align your whole team for the design process ahead.
