A full safety net program to help those in need, and a real understanding of their issues without denigration or victimization. Correspondent Mr. Ward just nailed it at the end when summarizing that program.… an amazing report!!

They'll do anything other than actually figure out what is driving this.

Great wholistic report of trauma recovery. Living month to month with 2 kids in CA as I do is similar but this report makes me feel hope and courage. Good sane policies. Awesome!

landlord: yes, if you can't afford then move
News reporter: 😕

I worked in a jail for 10 years. When the inmates were released they were given their belongings in a black garbage bag and a bus ticket. With no $$ and no place to go... homeless.

Pretty sure there was a guy who already did this years ago, building little shacks for the homeless. The city of LA confiscated and destroyed them. Funny how this is now suddenly a "good idea" again.

These are great points, but I will say, growing up poor, wasn't always budgeting, and life skills lacking, it was the matter of not having enough money to survive on.

Love the idea, hate the cost. These homes should cost no more than 10k to build

Wonderful story and so important that it is being recognized that there must be whole programs that help people get back on their feet after homelessness. This is a great start and I hope we see more of this across the nation. Everyone deserves shelter and an assist to help them get past the despair of homelessness.

one of the problems of these villages of tiny homes is that they are not near facilities for the families ie shopping, schools, playgrounds, buses. BUT, still way better than being homeless. The resources have to come to these villages as the people cannot get to the help they need once they're housed. Travelling across town, with small children is difficult.

The first place you get after homelessness is like a castle! No matter where you have to live. There were literally gunshots every weekend (and snakes came up through the dishwasher) but it was still better than homelessness.

Love the initiative. The crisis is nationwide. I wish California much success in their endeavor.

I'll be back next year to watch the story on how somebody stole a bunch of money from this. See ya then!

we need affordable housing to stop people from becoming homeless in the first place, we also need a livable wage

It only works for people who want to help themselves. The others, forget it.

The people depicted are the TRUE homeless. However, the tent slums in major and minor cities are full of addicts who do not want help but want handouts. Many local governments will milk the problem of "homelessness" to preserve bloated salaries. The problem is not homelessness; the problem is addiction.
