Marc-André Hamelin is a Canadian classical pianist whom I have admired since my early days of classical piano in elementary and middle school. This is his remarkable playing of Alexis Weissenberg's arrangement!

With all respect to Mr. Hamelin's overall musician and showmanship, transcribing his live performances has got to be something one can really be proud of at the end of the day. His hands move at such supersonic speed, it was hard for me to grasp the melody at times. Still, enormous Kudos for you Timothy, for having transcribed it.

Marc Andre Hamelin is a god amongst classical musicians. He revives extremely difficult pieces of music that have lain dormant from modern recordings, has an excellent execution and demand of the piano, he can do whatever he wants. Its quite incredible, I would greatly recommend his recordings for a listen.

recently finished my BA in classical piano performance. M Andre Hamelin is insanely accomplished musician and one of the pianists I worship to.
though I listen and play(a bit) on some jazz standards, I am pretty much a jazz beginner.
Wish you could transcribe Oscar Peterson's take on Waltz for Debby

Keep up the good work 🙂

En Avril A Paris (not to be confused with the jazz standard "April in Paris"): This one is for the majority of classical musicians and aficionados amongst us. This sublime masterpiece takes me back to my classical upbringing~ I love classical music! Sheet music trivia (first to answer correctly gets PDF): if this was a jazz transcription, measure 113 would be represented by what chord symbol?

Classical music is beautifully expressive.

another one of my favorite pieces ever. There was a really accurate if not exact transcription out there when i found the piece like 7-8 years ago but I hadn’t been able to find one until this which is really great, so thank you for reminding me of this masterpiece and allowing us to see the score!

Well, I reckon I could make a pretty decent go of the final chord! Astonishing on all counts (Mr Hamelin is an absolute weapon!), not the least of which is the transcription itself. It's wonderful to be in the company of musical giants!

Many thanks and regards from Sydney - David

Hamelin is thought to be a high skilled player. Maybe he didn’t play in jam session, but he knew every kind of music very well~

So this is Timothy Gondola's transcription of Marc-Andre Hamelin's enthusiastic performance of his transcription of Alexis Weissenberg's recorded performance of HIS transcription of Charles Trenet's performances of HIS original composition?

Oh, now I see it in the description. No wonder what I heard sounds classical rather than jazzy.

The incredible technical prowess of Oscar Peterson, the stunning precision of Ashkenazy, the overwhelming power of Horowitz, and the aesthetic artistry Martha Argerich. Measure 113 functions clearly and basically as a simple dominant seven chord in the new key of A major with two added tones purely for color, so E9/b13 (no 11) works as well as any might...

I just love the 5/4 bar here at 1:04. Just sounds so charming!

Horowitz était mon no1…Marc-André Hamelin est du même calibre. Mais je n’aime pas trop comparer.D’une clarté incomparable et on ne parle pas de sa technique. J’aimerais avoir son talent. Bravo M.Hamelin . J’aimerais vous voir en spectacle.
