Gearless Transmission, Hobson joint

preview_player
Показать описание
This system demonstrates efficient gearless transmission of power at right angles. This saves gear manufacturing time and costs along with teeth matching and gear placement issues. The elbow mechanism is an efficient design of gearless transmission technique and the kinematic system that allows for efficient power/motion transmission at right angles. This mechanism allows for motion transmission at 90 degree angles between the driver and the driven shafts.

This really ought to be renamed something like, "Hobson's joint, a constant velocity joint, a type of universal joint

A transmission infers multiple ratios, even if it’s just 0 and 1. This is a variable angle drive.

Wish there were some way to have hard-contact CVT which hasn't already been done. A chinese company came up with one, but it has a thousand parts, which I'd like to avoid. Perhaps a fluid/gear based transmission might work.

I have seen this few decades ago as "Leningrad gear", in a book, but without hinges. Only to 90' angle.

will it work on high speed applications

Congratulations dude! You "invented" a cardan transmission, only with very low efficiency, high noise levels and as many as six points of additional unnecessary friction.

This looks for me like an alternativ (german Word) kardangelenk, universal joint or Propeller shaft. But This looks very cool. But how is the power Transmission? In 90 degree i imagine, the Power is very low? It looks not very stable, in 90 degrees. Good work, like all your projects.

Hello my friend I had a problem with this project .. when the project is running, the sticks slip irregularly and stop. Do you know what the problem is or can you help me please?

If you look at it, it's two pegged gears, where the pegs are able to move, that are linked together, so it's not gearless.

That looks more like a diff/driveshaft

how about 4 rods...
can 4 better than 3...
straight is a smooth than angle

it may not work smooth in higher speeds.. cox of vibrations..

More like a gear box than a transmission but still cool I would like to see it under a load and some higher rpms

is not stabile, and can not stand strong forces :(

This doesnt have constant velocity... so it’s know where near as practical as anything currently on the market like the Thompson Constant velocity joint... Constant velocity is achieved in a geared mechanism/transmission like a differential... your mechanism shows a large increasing loss of power and velocity from the input to the output... achieving constant velocity in mechanical joints has been a hard thing to crack in engineering...

Не очень надежная конструкция под 90 градусов вобше работать не будет ... вы в руке удержать ровно не можите ...

Where is the transmission? It is the same as driveshaft and guess what, driveshafts don't have gears

So much useless thing. couldn't transfer any loard throughout. lot's of wast of energy.

A terrible design. Looks cool but absolutely no benefits over joints that are actually used in real life.
