George Burns fucking killed it in this movie! He adds just the right amount of his vaudeville chutzpah to make 'Fixing a Hole' the highlight of the whole film.

Paul McCartney based the original recording on the British Music Hall sound of the 1920s (a sound he's obsessed with). George Burns, of course, was a veteran of 20s American Vaudeville. Those two sounds are NOT far removed. That's why this cover works.

Propably the best cover made of the this song.

On the whole, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band was a train-wreck of a bad movie. But taken in parts, George Burns doing Fixing a Hole is a gold nugget. It's my favorite song and while George's cover is never going to replace the original, It's fatastic. I love it. 90-something years old and dancing up and down those stairs in a way my 54 year old butt could only wish to do it.

I saw this movie in theatres. Burns stole the show with this song. I like it better than the original Beatles version, and that's saying a lot.

I don't understand why in the movie no one stomped on Mr. Kite's dreams, telling him that a man at his age couldn't make it big like Billy Sheers and his band.

you have to play this at 0.5 speed to really get it

No amount of cocaine consumed in the 1970s can make this seem like a good idea.

The album was great -- the movie had much to be desired.  George Burns' performance in the movie of this song was not as good as the album.  Some really strong late summer / early fall 1978 memories here -- the music's all but forgotten,
