Spaceman Sputnik III Teardown! See what's inside!

This week is the Spaceman Sputnik III, a germanium fuzz from the Portland builders.

Another great teardown! I've never touched the Sputnik III but I built of clone of the Sputnik II and it's probably my favorite fuzz. Spaceman's standard series certainly seem well engineered and built, but I'll be damned if they just don't look as cool as the older designs that used a mishmash of weird NOS parts- those boards were works of art! I think their limited series pedals may still do it that way but I can't say for sure. It's also interesting to note that it appears that the enclosure is drilled for several different circuits and the extra holes are covered by the faceplate, which is certainly an interesting way of streamlining production. Can't wait to see what you tear into next!

I love these videos. I just have one suggest, get a decent drill to make unscrewing the enclosure quicker. With a decent bit you don't have to worry about rounding the screws off.

Excellent. I've heard six demo's tonight and this tear down on the SS III. I'm sold. Got to have one. It does so much, yet gets the Tone Bender 3 monster tone. Can't believe there are aliens in Portland, Oregon building great stuff like this. Thank you GBE for you're presentation on this. --- I do have a question. I have never heard anything working after you reassemble it; Why? lol
