I worked on the National Program for IT from 2003 to 2006. The money was available, the systems were basically developed. But the program was resisted by people who did not want to share data. 20 years wasted. Finally it looks like modernisation is on the agenda again.

When I was born in the 1950’s I was issued an NHS card which had my NHS id on it 🙂
