Secretary of State Anthony Blinken speaks on the decision to evacuate U.S. diplomats and suspend operations in Sudan.

John Kirby, National Security Council coordinator for strategic communications, said Monday that the situation in Khartoum moved fast over the past week.

When it became apparent the warring factions would not agree to an immediate cease fire, U.S. officials this weekend decided “it wasn’t safe enough for our diplomats in our embassy to stay manned there and operating, so we moved them out,” Kirby told CBS.
