Thank you Paul. The way you explain your helpful "Why didn't I think of that!!" ideas really made my home projects so much less intimidating. Keep em coming I'll be eagerly waiting. God bless my friend.

For the curvy parts of the cabinet doors. I get automotive steel wool. It comes in fine, medium and course. It takes to every contour of the raised panel and it's very cheap. That way you get a perfect adhesive surface! I mainly use medium and fine!

Thank you Paul! Been going back and forth between new cabinets and refacing for a year or so now...this helped me go with the much less expensive option.

Thank you, this turned out absolutely perfect for our kitchen. I was very skeptical at first about using can spray paint, but we actually liked the way the auto primer looked so didn't even use any additional paint. I wasn't able to find the clear coat spray you recommend, so I had to deviate a bit from your last step. I picked up an inexpensive HVLP sprayer, hooked it to my 6 gallon pancake compressor and used straight minwax water-based polycrylic satin. It went on beautifully and only required one coat using the sprayer. Cabinets look better than new. Thank you so much for this video! I did get funny looks though when I put a dozen or more spray paint cans on the counter when checking out at the store!

Great video but I may have missed something. DId you paint the cabinets after you primed them or did you just put a clear coat and that was it?

Wow! It was super fast response. Appreciate it. When I looked at my hinges I realized that old bronze hinges wouldn't work with my updated cabinets. Any advise how to paint them to match my new brushed nickel handles? Thank you

Small point to be made: what you're doing isn't cabinet refacing. It's cabinet repainting. Also, lacquer is one of the worst finishes for kitchen cabinetry, but I suppose most people don't have access to conversion varnish. Good video, still, for those who don't have the $10k-$15k it takes to do a conventional remodel.

I do not know you personally but have a question. Are you a Vet? Seems fitting. Appreciate your video's. I've learned a lot and still learning. I made my way through College painting and off grid doing tile. You have brought really good instructions into my life with my rental homes. Please Carry on.

Few questions, I tried reading through the comments but didnt see these answers.

1. Can you list the products you use i.e. primer, paint, clear (Deff)

2. You didn't demonstrate the little niks and hole technique is it just as simple as using a poker tool and doing small areas?

3. You really didn't show the painting part, if you paint and there are brushstrokes, what do you do to get rid of them? Your cabinets look awesome once painted, but that inbetween step isnt being shown.

Hi Paul:  I have original knotty-pine cabinets in my 1963 kitchen.  They of course have that old orange-tinted polyurethane on them. I want to remove this, possibly lighten them up a bit, and possibly use a matte clear varnish.  What materials do I use, esp to remove the old polyurethane?

I did the same thing with my cabinets.  They are plywood, and over the years the finish on them has worn off, not a fan of trying to stain or otherwise make plywood look good HAHA.  So I just cleaned them up scuffed up the surface and primed and painted them.  They look better, but at some point I'd really like to build new cabinets who knows when that may be, but at least they are covered and protected until the.  I also painted the insides of the cabinets as well, they were really dark inside before so I painted them kind of an eggshell white and that helped quite a bit.  I also installed laminate flooring in the living room and hallway.  Only thing I have left to do is to finish the trim around the wood stove base, but I'm kind of stuck at that as the base for the wood stove is not square, it has several angles to it.  My thought was to use a T-Bevel to get the angle, then divide that angle in half to set the miter saw?
