If I was assembling an all time team, Dick Vermeil would be my head coach. He's not a defense guy like Bellichick, he's not an Offensive guy like Sean Payton, he's the beating heart of the team you surround with amazing coaches. He's in my opinion one of the best Head Coaches of all time if you go by the letter of what a head coach does.

Coach Vermeil is one of my favorites....Tom Landry, Joe Gibbs, Lombardi, Tony Dungy. Heart, character, work ethic, faith. They made everyone around them better people.

I just watched Coach Vermeils speech in Canton this past weekend. He thanked all his former staff, coaches and players since he coached high school. It was a great speech because it was all about the people that helped him achieve success. Ironically he did not cry and was not overtly emotional during his speech. I am so happy for him to finally be recognized in the Hall of Fame.

Vermeil's emotions don't seem to come from a place of weakness at all, he's very sentimental at times, very aware of a moment or the impact it may have on his life or the lives' of his players, it's pretty cool to see actually. Some guys go through life without ever really appreciating the beauty of profundity of it all, and it seems like he could tell in the moment what these events really meant, it's almost too deep to describe, life is deep and he knows it.
