Interesting story about the F450 in the next vid. Yes, for everyone wondering, we almost got it, but mistakes were made. Still working on the deal.

I only use the manual mode when I need engine braking or want to hold a gear when towing uphill. With a 6.2L gas engine, the truck's computer always wants to downshift the truck in too low of gears causing needless engine over-rev.

The brakes on my semi are still new because I use the exhaust brake as much as I can. My old semi didn’t have an engine brake and they put new pads and drums on every year!

When to use manual: all the time
Why: I just got my Danger Industries paddle shifter
Also, the hand written note is an awesome extra

I use it on my 2017 Chevy Cruze going downhill to save my brakes. I still have the original brakes from factory with 56, 897 miles on it.

You seem to be misunderstanding the engine brake settings. "Engine brake on" means its always on when you are NOT pressing the throttle. Also iIf you touch the brake pedal for one second, the transmission will downshift if there is a gear available without using the buttons. Ford has had that feature since the 4R100(early 1999 diesels) Everytime I get in my truck(2019 F350) I turn on the engine brake. It in turn locks the torque converter in every gear except 1st. The "Automatic Engine Brake" is on stand-by until you press the brake pedal. At that point it has a set point(target speed) to maintain. So you travel down a hill at 65km/h and touch the brake, that set the target for 65km/h and it tries to hold it. The grade flattens out, the engine brake will stop being applied, if the grade steepens(or speed increases) if you didnt apply the throttle it would resume the 65km/h hold. Works nicely if you are driving empty.

Dude not been funny but oh there's always a but, new brake shoes new brake discs and pads are a hell of a lot cheaper then a gearbox or an engine, I am with you for the hills and the right gear and using the engine brake when you are slowing for roads works etc just not so reliant on dropping gears just for the sake of it, just my option dude

I use manual mode all the time with my Ram 3500 hemi when towing, otherwise it shifts back and forth constantly. I find our GMs shift much more methodically and rarely need assistance.
