I don't normally leave comments but this was the most informative, understandable, down-to-earth explanation of becoming a licensed mental health counselor not just in Washington but for the whole United States. Definitely helped me understand which route I want to take. Thank you.

In Wisconsin you need to complete 3, 000 hours with 1, 000 hours face-to-face to obtain an LPC + college, of course.

I really appreciate this information. I’m currently in graduate school and I really didn’t have any knowledge of what the next steps were after graduation. This hasn’t been taught in school so I truly appreciate it!

CACREP accreditation has driven up the cost of counseling degree programs astronomically in the past 20 years while salaries have remained relatively unchanged. A waste IMO though it has now become the standard.

I have a double bachelors in psychology & sociology from a New York State university. Graduated magna cum laude. I don’t know where to start to pursue my masters in mental health counseling. It’s def what I feel most fulfilling as a career path with my skill set and genuine want to assist people in the midst of their mental struggles and difficulties. I know I can do it. Just don’t know where to put my first step
