How To Play Man In The Box - Guitar Lesson - Alice In Chains - Jerry Cantrell

In this video I demonstrate how to play the song Man In The Box by Alice In Chains. Jerry Cantrell is a wizard in making dark, broody heavy guitar licks and this is by far one of his most well known licks in his catalogue. Featured not the Alice In Chains 1991 debut album Facelift. It peaked at 18 on the Billboard charts and was nominated for a Grammy for best hard rock performance. The song features some excellent riffle from Cantrell with some heavy tones produced with a cry baby pedal and Jerrry's signature overdriven sound. There is a lot to learn in the notes and phrasing utilized in this guitar performance. It is a prime example of ghost bends, wah wah usage, trills and alternate chord voicings. Back in the day we would go to this bar/club called Señor Frogs and there was always this one DJ that would play this song every night. I remember thinking, "great tune" but he would play it right after something popular at the time like "Macarena" and all the women would leave the dance floor. He was killing our game!
