Sick solo. I remember being in 8th grade in ‘76 and a friend a year older offered to take me to a Kinks show. My parents said “No. No concerts until you’re in high school.” So 4 months later I’m the same age, but a HS freshman. Parents say “okay Eddie, enjoy your Frank Zappa show thing.” 😂 my 1st concert.

'THE ILLINOIS ENEMA BANDIT' DE FRANK ZAPPA: Que buena banda × D. Un blues y están Ray White canto, Bobby Martin teclados y coro, Chad Wackerman batería con Steve Vai guitarra. Aclarar que Stevie no tenía idea de lo que es salir de gira como músico. En Berklee en donde deslumbró al hermano de Pat Metheny, Mike, que fuera su profesor, dijo "me la pasaba transcribiendo música en mis ratos libres. No me interesaba salir a bailar o a perder mi tiempo. Transcribía música de autores clásicos y de Frank Zappa, quedándome sólo en el campus mientras mis compañeros salían a disxotequear, que era su derecho por supuesto! Pero yo transcribía y transcribía sin cesar. Un día me armé de valor y puse unas transcripciones mías de la música de Frank en un sobre y se las envié a la dirección de su oficina. Pensé que le llegaría correspondencia de todos lados pues iba mucho de gira a Europa, y que quizá no lo abrirían en su oficina o quedaría apilado por ahí con otras correspondencias. Pero resultó que Gayle, su esposa, que le atendía el correo, le mostró mi trabajo. Recibí una sorpresiva respuesta del propio Frank, así: "Apreciado Steve: Muy bien hechas tus transcripciones de mi música! Quisiera contratarte para que me hagas otras transcripciones, si te es posible. En todo caso, te envío un pago por lo que me has enviado ya. Saludos cordiales, Frank Zappa'. Eso no lo sabía aún, pero iba a cambiar el rumbo de mi existencia"...
