Just finished the quest, and this is probably my favorite lantern rite. I got teary eyed ngl, it's so good. I love how hutao centered it is and not for a new character.

0:34 then in my imagination a red hand takes hu taos leg pulling her to stay in the after life and some voice saying like "YOUR LIFE HAS ENDED", "YOU DON'T BELONG IN THE WORLD OF LIVING", "PAY YOUR SACRIFICE TO STAY IN ETERNAL SLUMBER" then the grimreaper of genchin appear and is the responsible of summoning those red hand try to stop lumine from saving hutao. The lantern rite needed more drama for hu tao

this quest broke my heart
the other characters were def suspicious that she was up to smth given the history of the former ritual and the butterfly having to sacrifice herself. like it was so obvious shed have to do the same. and yet nobody rlly seemed to take it srsly. it honestly made me rlly upset like. everything she was doing are like the top red flags of sm planning to remove themselves from the world permanently (not sure if yt censors the word for that or not srry). her visiting all of her friends on the same day and asking them to send msgs to those she cant see. very over the top w physical affection (holding yun jins hand, hugging xiangling, etc), and excessive gift giving, esp of her most prized possession. everything she said and did had such an ominous sense of finality to it. like right from the beginning it was so apparent to me what she was going to do and it rlly doesnt seem like ppl picked up on it
qiqi has always said that her smile is a fake one. shes hiding a lot of responsibility, pain, and trauma behind it. the loss of her parents and grandparents is obv smth shes never been able to properly grieve as she seems to try and shove it away as to not burden others
hu taos my 2nd fav in the game. so this lore drop on her in this yrs lantern rite was a real treat to me. but at the same time it left me feeling very sad for her. wish i could give her a hug
