Hu tao did suspects it but always denys it herself. Zhongli is valuable to the funeral parlor so she did not to change the thought of her relationship with him from being zongli's boss.

Zhongli is the only Archon who has lived among the people during his entire reign.I do believe he had some contract with the 1st Director of Funeral Parlor where he would help Zhongli conceal his identity for him to live among his people.This contract might have been passed down through the generations of the Funeral Parlor but due to Hu Tao's Grandfather's untimely demise she doesn't know about this.

It's just my theory but it makes the most sense.

Hu Tao does not care, she can bully the conqueror of demons into social interaction (something not even the traveler was capable of for two years), having an adeptus in her employment is just another day at the office

Hu Tao is a pretty mysterious character. Other than her backstory relating to the funeral parlor, we really don't know much about her. She appears to be onto everyone's lies so it's clear that she's hiding her intelligence. One thing that seems really suspicious is that one of her talents has the same name as one of the fatui's voice lines (the more the merrier). It also seems weird that she's one of the best dps characters, but one of the weakest characters in lore. I feel like Hoyo could do a lot more with her character if they wanted to.

“Spending a year or two as an adeptal disciple” could be an excuse too. It’ll make people think Zhongli’s just like Shenhe. I’m not gonna ask “What if Hu Tao lives for 40 more years but Zhongli doesn’t age a day?” because I doubt it’ll take that long for the cryo archon to test her final weapon, so Hu Tao will probably learn after the endgame, if she survives

Hu Tao is a lot more insightful than most other people give her credit. I mean, she's the only one who knows Baizhu is trying to attain immortality. And she's more familiar with the Adeptus than most other humans. I think she's even on casual terms with Xiao. Heck, he actually finds her funny.
