One of the coolest bass riffs of the 80s

Add this to the list of great basslines created by underappreciated writers and players.

This amazing line was written and played by Tony Butler.
The bass player for Big Country.
He also wrote and played Back On The Chain Gang.

I think every Rush fan misses hearing this song everyday at Noon ET, and feeling deep sense of comraderie with the other listeners across the country to experience his unique way of sharing his knowledge and experiences.

Can the Pretenders release a special instrumental version for Rush Fans?

RIP Rush, I have fond memories listening to the radio and hearing his voice (and this sweet bassline!) while having lunch as a kid with my grandpa.

Not to mention Billy Bremner's smoking hot lead guitar work in this with Tony Butler's badass bass riff opening the song up and Chrissie's rhythm guitar too.
Rush, you're missed! Godspeed and RIP. Pretenders, thank you for a great rock & roll tune, we will always have the music!

Grew up on this tune, every weekday. Now hearing it I choke up. Such a bomb ass bass groove. The golden microphone. My god, I pray they have cigars in

You can't hear this song with out thinking of Rush. It will always be that way. My grandpa has been gone 10 years now but I still think back to being around 12-14 years old when I would be working on the boat with him and this would be playing the car and I still remember hearing Rush's voice on the radio.

Mega dittos Rush. You were such an integral part of my formative years back in the early 90’s. I remember you in Sacramento when I was going to college right down the causeway in Davis, CA.

Now that I'm 40 and return to my home area and I can feel this song

During the COVID-19 lock down, my husband and I took a short ride to the downtown area of our small southern city. We did not get out of the car. It looked like a ghost town.

Song reminds me of my old town in San Juan Capistrano, Ca.
How much it's changed..😔
"A-Oh, way to go Capistrano!"

I had this album as a young whippersnapper. I knew of this song about 9-10 years before I listened to Rush. I thought it was cool of Rush to take this song as an intro. Figured he'd move on to something else over the years but it remained.
