Yeah I don’t think they mean he’s based off of Vegeta, it’s more that he’s basically the same character as him. Sonic Prime did an EXCELLENT job with his Character, and vastly improved it. I hope this is how Shadow is portrayed going forward.

Basically: his creator change his memories. His creator's granddaughter, maria died, and the creator wanted revenge. Before maria died, she told shadow to ''give the humans a second chance, and keep them safe.'' but then his creator changed his memories so she would say ''kill all humans. For They have killed me'' but then amy said the exact same thing that maria said, and released shadow's real memories. He went on to fulfill the promise he made to his only friend

Yes, both sides were artificially created, but neither are villains. Starting out, Shadow was. Starting out, Mewtwo was not. Shadow started as a villain, but his memories were messed with by Ivo, making the Ultimate Lifeform seek revenge instead of remembering what Maria told him: Protect the people, Shadow. After remembering what Maria told him, via Amy begging him to help, he sacrificed himself to save everyone else. Mewtwo, again, did not start as a villain. Mewtwo was created by the villainous organization known as Team Rocket. He is the culmination of the Mythical Pokemon, Mew, and Team Rocket Leader Giovanni. So, off rip, Mewtwo's mind is already fucked, but he's still not a villain. Mewtwo was alone and saddened by the loss of his only friends, clones of the Kanto Starters and Blane's partner's daughter, who he had a great friendship with, even if it was only for a few minutes. Mewtwo felt love for those few minutes, only to be taken away, fading from his life. Both characters are broken defenders of Earth and Mobius, respectfully. Neither are villains, they were never intended to be villains. Saying that either character is a villain is a large misconception. Even adding Vegeta into the mix, does not count. Vegeta is as much an anti-hero/hero as Mewtwo and Shadow the Hedgehog. It upsets me that someone would ask this blasphemous question. It's despicable. Never again do I want to see a post from anyone asking a question that does not and will not pertain to these iconic characters of Nintendo and Sega, respectively.

shadow wasn't really about revenge it was just about his promise, the second he realized that Maria actually wanted him to protect humanity he was willing to lay down his life
