Every June, during Volunteers' Week, we celebrate the priceless contribution of all our dedicated volunteers.

We always hold a special event for our volunteers; rewarding them with gifts, certificates, entertainment, and a BBQ, (whatever the weather)!

We have three operational strands within EMERGE 3Rs: EMERGE Recycling, Touch Wood, and FareShare Greater Manchester; all working to tackle global warming by preventing waste and promoting sustainability. Our hard-working teams of volunteers support and enable all these endeavours, and we couldn't do it without them.

This year we held our celebration in our brand new canteen and outside in our wellbeing garden. We've made a short film to mark the event and to give you a brief glimpse into the EMERGE volunteering family.

We have plenty of varied, interesting and rewarding roles available in our surplus food warehouse; out on the road, making deliveries to the community initiatives we support; in our busy woodworking workshop, and in our offices.

You can make an appointment to visit us for a look around, and we also offer taster sessions to give you an idea of what you'd be doing if you choose to support us with your time.

You can read about the many varied volunteer opportunities we have on offer at our websites:

We are based at our newly-opened operations base, Maynard House, on New Smithfield Market in Openshaw. It's just off Ashton Old Road and is very easy to get to by bus and car, with the 219 service running every few minutes and a stop just yards from our base, as well as ample parking onsite if you're driving. Naturally, being a sustainability charity, we also have plenty of safe storage for your bike if you'd like to cycle to us. :)

Enjoy the film!
