Sonnet 18 performed by Salli Belsham as part of Blinking Idiot Theatre's Shakespeare Around The Globe.

Shakespeare Around The Globe features both ammeter and professional actors performing Shakespeare's work. The project's aims were to engage with a diverse and varied range of participants and audience members. Each performer recorded their piece from the safety of their own home or local area.

Meet Salli: I am a member of the Actor’s Company at The Royal and Derngate Theatre and most recently was involved in an adapted version Midsummer Night’s Dream with live music on stage. Our adaptation included parts of both the sonnets I perform in the videos. Also with the Actor’s Company I have performed in Great Expectations (Magwitch) and The Crucible (Goody Nurse). As part of the community chorus I have been in the Grapes of Wrath (adapted from John Steinbeck), A View from the Bridge (Miller) and Ghosts (Ibsen). Over lock down I have enjoyed working with Theze Guyz on “The Forgotten Millions” and “Hansel & Gretel” (recording at home) as well as recording the monologue “Susan” for Tread The Boards Theatre Company. I am currently rehearsing for a shortened version of “Much Ado About Nothing” which we hope to present in late June in the “Stoney Live” Festival.

Shakespeare has been a favourite since I first saw productions at the Bubble Theatre tent as a teenager and after studying Romeo and Juliet for O level seeing the Zefferelli film that sealed a life-long love. I was lucky enough to take part in “Groundling’s On Stage “ at Shakespeare’s Globe in London and recently completed a short course academic course on his plays. I have my bronze RADA Shakespeare Award and hope to try for the silver after lockdown.
