How to Repair Damaged Ski Base with P-Tex

You don't actually need to remove the ski break, you can use a strong rubber band like the ones you sometimes get on produce like broccoli to hold the two sides of the ski break to the binding. It will hold them below the surface of the ski.

I wouldn't take the ski break off. Just rubber band the break up. Once that screw comes out you open up the core to moisture unless you reseal it, which is a waste of time and risk. Just leave the break in and tie it up.
