In scope management planning phase, there are 4 processes, and of of this is, collect requirements.

Collect Requirements is the process of determining, documenting, and managing stakeholder needs and requirements to meet objectives. The key benefit of this process is that it provides the basis for defining the product scope and project scope. This process is performed once or at predefined points in the project.

Like all other processes, there are ITTOs in this process.

The goal outcomes and outputs of this process are:

Requirements documentation and Requirements traceability matrix

Requirements documentation describes how individual requirements meet the business need for the project. Requirements may start out at a high level and become progressively more detailed as more information about the requirements is known from business requirements, stakeholder requirements, solution requirements both functional and nonfunctional, transition and readiness requirements, project requirements and quality requirements.

While requirements traceability matrix is grid that links product requirements from their origin to the deliverables that satisfy them. The implementation of a requirements traceability matrix helps ensure that each requirement adds business value by linking it to the business and project objectives. It provides a means to track requirements throughout the project life cycle, helping to ensure that requirements approved in the requirements documentation are delivered at the end of the project. Finally, it provides a structure for managing changes to the product scope.

Therefore, two project documents are expected to gain after this process.

What do we need to have this outcome? What are the inputs?

Project charter- this is after develop project charter during initiating phase under intigration management.

Project management plan like
• Scope management plan
• Requirements management plan
• Stakeholder engagement plan

as we can see , collect requirement process comes after develop project charter, identify stakeholder in initiating phase and plan scope management, plan stakeholder engagement in planning.

Moving forward, we also need Project documents like:
• Assumption log
• Lessons learned register
• Stakeholder register

Business documents like Business case

Agreements

Enterprise environmental factors

Organizational process assets

For these inputs to get the desired outcome, we need to process these through tools and techniques, we need the following:

Expert judgment
Data gathering like:
• Brainstorming
• Interviews
• Focus groups
• Questionnaires and surveys
• Benchmarking

Data analysis like Document analysis

Decision making like:
• Voting
• Multicriteria decision analysis

Data representation like:
• Affinity diagrams
• Mind mapping

Interpersonal and team skills like:
• Nominal group technique
• Observation/conversation
• Facilitation

Context diagram

Prototypes

Prototyping is a method of obtaining early feedback on requirements by providing a model of the expected product before actually building it. Examples of prototypes are small-scale products, computer generated 2D and 3D models, mock-ups, or simulations. Prototypes allow stakeholders to experiment with a model of the final product rather than being limited to discussing abstract representations of their requirements. Prototypes support the concept of progressive elaboration in iterative cycles of mock-up creation, user experimentation, feedback generation, and prototype revision.

Storyboarding is a prototyping technique showing sequence or navigation through a series of images or illustrations. Storyboards are used on a variety of projects in a variety of industries, such as film, advertising, instructional design,
and on agile and other software development projects. In software development, storyboards use mock-ups to shownavigation paths through web pages, screens, or other user interfaces.

These are the ITTO's of this process. Having these outputs of Requirements documentation and Requirements traceability matrix , we will be able to rightfully collect requirements.

Great Job, See you in next videos.
