We saved this 1972 F100 from the junkyard last week. It was abandoned for years. The gas tank is rusted & leaking all over the floor. Let's pull it out.

YOUR SEAT //on that Ford truck was made in the 23 mile plant in Chesterfield Michigan trim plant 1 and plant 2 in Michigan //I know this plant it was 1 of the very best all made in U S A// now been closed 18 years it was all interior

Those old original floor mats I take Mega Black Silicone on the backside and put some foil tape over the repairs Let them sit in the sun for 24 hours and dry. works PERFECT...

I say an ACC carpet kit would be a nice upgrade. I put carpet in my truck 10 years ago when it originally had a rubber mat. It feels warmer in the winter and a little quieter on the highway.

I had a 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis that came with Firestone 721 radials. They all came apart and were recalled by Firestone as defective! Those wheel covers came on Ford F150's but later years and are not original to that truck (I don't think) but I think they look really good on it myself!

Hey CT, in regards to those seatbelts fill up a bucket with water and liquid laundry detergent. I use the amount of a full load. Pull them all the way out and clamp them with zip ties and let them soak overnight. Come the next day just rinse it out and you won't believe how clean it comes out. Slides much better too. As for a name I kinda drew blanks, maybe Percy, short for Persevering. He'll never say die! What trips me out is they put an ashtray in the same cab as the fuel tank.

Just a tip for you. The bottom of the cab corners have two small weep holes to let dirt and moisture out. Get under the truck and poke with a sharp screwdriver to unblock.
They should not fill up with water like that or they are most likely blocked.
Love the content and looking forward to next ep.

There is drains in the cab corners at back of cab just look underneath, that seat has been covered and modified from original. Nice

Regarding the headliner, if you take it out, be super careful because they can be brittle. Obviously, you don't want to break it when you remove it so get an extra pair of hands. I highly recommend to go around and make sure each screw is loosened before you remove any of them as it is not unusual to find them frozen in place. History is littered with guys who removed half the screws and then started having trouble which ended up with them having a broken headliner. The moral of the story is to make sure that all the screws will come out easily while you have a helper hold one end of it up.

As for what to do to restore it, that depends on your own personal taste and how much money you're willing to spend. A lot of guys will simply coat them with a layer or two of paint and call it good. That's an option. If you go that route I would recommend an oil-based paint because it will act as a seal against moisture absorption in the future. The standard color is a bright white which does make a difference. How so? At night when the dome light is on, a bright white headliner helps illuminate the entire cab. Dark colors absorb light, light colors reflect light on average.

Another option is to coat it with a thin layer of foam insulation that's anywhere from 1/8 inch thick to 5/16 inch thick. You can buy the sheet foam from a variety of sources, you just have to get enough to cover the surface of your headliner but it doesn't have to be all one piece! You can buy narrow pieces and just combine them together. Sheet foam is pretty easy to find in size of the equivalent of a sheet of plywood rolled up and ready to be used. Use a spray adhesive to adhere it to the headliner. Trim along the edges with a razor blade. You cover it up with your choice of a thin layer of vinyl or a fabric. You can find those items from arts & crafts suppliers or any place that supplies fabrics such as a sewing shop. All sorts of colors and styles of fabrics are available along with certain types of vinyl, usually by the foot or the yard. Yes, use the spray adhesive to adhere the final covering to the foam just like you did with the foam to the original headliner. With the covering, you just simply carefully wrap it around to the back side of the headliner and glue it in place. The whole point in using the sheet foam insulation is that it acts as a sound deadener although it also gives you a different look along with that spongy feel.

Lastly, some guys will contact a shop that provides a wrap for a car and they'll ask them to make a wrap for the headliner. The wraps are also a vinyl product. These allow you to get anything that you desire in the form of a picture, phrases or other artwork so that you can place it on your headliner. Popular things are an American flag or a giant Ford blue oval logo. A custom made wrap will probably be the most expensive thing you would spend money on for a headliner resto but for some folks it's worth it based on what they end up with. My take on that is that you have to remember that hardly anybody will ever see it, even folks who sit in your truck! After all, you have to actually look up to see what's on the headliner inside the cab so think that one over before spending a bunch of money on it. You might choose to buy a dash pad which is far more visible instead.

The seat is original but has been upholstered, you can tell by the white foam lining on the seat back
