I had this exact bike when I was 10, great memories.

Exactly like mine. I believe mine was purchased in December 1974. The first thing I did was take off the fenders and the chain guard. Years later, I painted it black!

Nice bike. I have a AMF Aerobee 5 speed black and glittery silver ish hanging in the shed. It still has the original tires with white markings. They don’t fetch as much $ as the stingrays but just as cool imo

I had one just like that, same color but I don't think the tires had the white letters on the side. I had to mute the music, though. Needs more Who or Zeppelin for a 70s-vintage bike!

Hold the camera still for least 5 seconds. Panning back and forth, up and down is nauseating.

Song should be Renegades of Funk, just sayin'.

I just got one! I brought it home two hours ago for 30 bucks It's gold with a black seat, handgrips, and script on the chain guard! Im so excited over it! Here's a question, is there any way to tell what year it was built? It's just interesting,

I had this bike (but with basic tires) when I was in second grade!

I had one of these except mine was an older model my Mom bought new for me in 1965 for my birthday present. Mine was a beautiful 'fine sparkle/metalflake' gold finish that absolutely shimmered in sunlight. Mine was a basic model, single speed, no fenders. Of course it had the requisite banana seat (plain white), 'ape hanger' handlebars, and knobby rear tire. Every kid my age at the time wanted a Schwinn Stingray and I was no exception. My Mom couldn't afford the Schwinn so I picked an AMF Renegade and I was perfectly happy and proud of it. Won many a 'drag race' against kids with similar bicycles and I could do a wheelstand for the full length of our street: about a quarter mile. I've seen them at bicycle shows and choked at what pristine examples are worth now. Wish I still had mine.

Not Gay!
I owned this exact bike in gold in 1973-75 and smoked every bike in my neighborhood. To this day I love that Renegade and if I could find one in decent condition, I;d buy it, restore it and let my 6 year old son ride it!!!
