Mohammed Hijab | Can There Be More Than One God? #monotheism

Can the universe have more than 1 God? Many religions around the world have a polytheistic belief system. Brother, Mohammed Hijab goes over the different scenarios of a universe with multiple gods. He draws inspiration from the Quranic argument, which supports a purely monotheistic concept of God.

Brother Mohammed concludes that if we believe in an all-Powerful Creator, then it is logically impossible for this All-Powerful Creator to be more than one being.

ALLAH IS COMPLETELY ONE
1. IN LORDSHIP(I.e :ALONE CREATES CREATIONS , ALONE OWNS CREATIONS , ALONE DISPOSES AND CONTROLS AFFAIRS OF THE CREATIONS )
2.IN DIVINITY, GODHOOD, (I.e BEING ALONE THE DEITY THAT DESERVE WORSHIP :ALL SUBMISSION, ALL SURDENER, ALL DEIFACTION, ALL VENERATION, ALL ACTS OF WORSHIP SEEN AND UNSEEN)
3.IN ESSENCE, NAMES,ATTRIBUTES (I.e there is nothing similar to him in existence what so ever, nothing NEAR or far co equal to him, to him belong at most perfections majesty, all purity)

The inescapable reality of monotheism

I advise you to read surat at-tur, ayah 35-36, Ponder on it, then read the following:

(The necessity of necessity - The necessity of dependence - The necessity of the exception of dependence)

That is how I've been able to descibe the structure of monotheism.

How do we arrive at this conclusion?

Say I drop a ball on the ground, wouldn't the dropping of the ball in this context in the way it fell not have happened if I didn't drop it? Then the falling of the ball is DEPENDENT on my dropping it, and my dropping it IS NECESSARY for the ball to drop.

From this experiment, we understand the concepts of dependence and necessity.

But there's something we have to consider here, I am a dependent existence myself. So what if I'm dependent on something else dependent, which is dependent on something else dependent, which is dependent on something else dependent, which is... See here that we find ourselves in an infinite regression of dependence, that entails the dependence of EVERYTHING with no exception. But if LITERALLY EVERYTHING is dependent, then it can't be dependent on anything because there's nothing left for it to depend on.

But why would it be impossible for dependent things to depend on each other?

Let's conduct another experiment:

Say I bring two or more phones and connect them all with a usb cable so they can charge each other. Eventually, they're gonna run out of battery and shut down.

If A cannot provide for its own needs and is dependent on B to provide for it, and B cannot provide for its own needs either and is dependent on A to provide for it, then that means that neither A nor B can provide for each other, because A needs B which needs A, so that's like saying A is dependent on itself, but it's not. That's an obvious contradiction, and it's especially the case when we talk about existence itself instead of just preservation.

If we say the existence of A is dependent on the existence of B, and the existence of B is dependent on the existence of A, then there's a problem, because the first statement means that A precedes B, while the second one means that B precedes A. Both cannot be true.

And it doesn't matter how many dependent things there are, if what they depend on cannot provide for itself and is dependent on another dependent existence which is also dependent on it. No matter how many phones that are connected, each battery is still limited.

But the main point is not just about dependence, but the chronology of dependence. This is where an infinite chronological chain of dependence, which entails an eternal universe, is impossible.

Why would that be impossible?

The problem here is that we, once again, apply an infinite regression of dependence, because the existences involved in this chain of dependence are also dependent. This is problematic, mainly because We also are applying an infinite regression of Cause and effect in particular, by making this proposition.

How?

By saying that a cycle of NECESSARY events that occur for the purpose of the preservation of a closed system that DEPENDS on this cycle, you're saying that the universe is dependent on chain of causes and effects that has NO BEGINNING. How can there be a cause, if there is no beginning? These are two sides of the same coin. An existence has either both of them or none of them.

In a domino effect, the fall of every domino is dependent on the fall of the first domino, but if there is no fall of a first domino, or even a first domino at all, then how could any of the other dominos fall? Without a first domino, there is no domino effect. Without a first cause, there is no chain of causes and effects.

This leaves us with only one possibility:

The NECESSITY of the exception of DEPENDENCE, the only INDEPENDENT existence that Every other existence DEPENDS on.

But hang on! Why does it have to be One exception, why can't it be more? Because only one of them is NECESSARY. If we require more than one independant existence, then that would mean they cannot provide our existence individually, and that they must work together. So How can they be INDEPENDENT if they Depend on each other to create us?

But hang on! Are you using this argument to prove god's existence? Why does it have to be god that created us? Once again, because of NECESSITY. How could COINCIDENCE exist in the presence of NECESSITY?

Let's conduct another experiment:

Say you wake up in a room with another person. The Mona Lisa on the wall, a computer on a desk, and a child on the floor playing with a Doll are the only things in the room, besides the two of you. Naturally the first thing to comes to mind is "how did we get here?". The other person goes to play with the kid and admire the mona lisa, while you check the computer and open it to find a message that states "the computer was not created", then you check the desk to find a manual describing the ins and outs of the computer. The other person is distracted by playing with the kid and admiring the mona lisa. You stop him for a moment to get him to think and ask questions about your Origin with you. You show him the manual, and together you draw out some possibilities:

1.the baby brought you here and created this computer and the mona lisa

2.the Doll did it

3.the room did it

4.an intelligent being that we cannot see did it

Look around you! Look at yourself! Look at What humans have been able to create out of POWER, WILL, KNOWLEDGE, AND WISDOM. If these attributes are NECESSARY to make this phone you're holding or this computer you're reading this from Exist, then how come the universe which is Much bigger and more detailed than them not have a creator with these qualities? Every art MUST have an artist.

Why does the creator have to have will?

Being an independent existence that preceded all other existence means that there was nothing besides him to force him to do it, which means causing the other existence was a choice and not a compulsory thing he had to do, otherwise how could he be independent? Remember! How could A be dependent on B, if B's entire existence is dependent on A?

And having a conscious choice indicates having knowledge and wisdom, and a world like this would require an immense amount of them, not to mention power.

All that makes theism, and islamic monotheism in particular, the actual default and atheism a foreign alien and strange idea.

And once again this brings us back to monotheism as a NECESSARY and INESCAPABLE reality. To deny it, is to deny the fundementals of your very existence. That's why shirk, which is giving the attributes of the one true creator to another existence that is DEPENDENT on the creator, is the only sin allah does not forgive

"Surely Allah does not forgive that anything should be associated with Him, and forgives what is besides that to whomsoever He please..." surat an-nisaa', ayat 48.

I'm actually thinking about this
What if different religions are ruled by different gods fighting each others

All adherents of Christianity must be asked.

If they believe in the Judgement Day why are they so eager for the Return of Christ?

Humanity will be brought forward before Allah on Judgement Day, this was prophesied by all the Prophet's. Not just the last few.

Misrepresenting your adversary's point of view does not make yours true by default.
There are many examples of pantheon mythologies where there are multiple gods and they don't have to fight among each other.
You say "but an almighty god does not compromise". You are just pulling arguments from your already monotheistic mindset. So this argument works only for you.
Your last argument is "if they are competing (which they don't have to), one will prevail. Yes, so what? It just means one is stronger than the others. That does not mean the others aren't gods. Just see in Greek mythology where Zeus is the most powerful of all gods but the others are still gods.
In Christianity, they call the Christ, King of kings. His statue of king does not invalidate other's status of kingd

This video tries to apply monotheistic standards to polytheistic gods. It ignores the fact that polytheistic gods have specialization in different fields (i.e. water, fertility, death etc.), a weaker god can defeat a greater one via trickery or cunning, a lesser god might be better at its specific talent(s), different gods have different personalities (so some will be more or less willing to compromise\negotiate than others, some will be more or less warlike, some will be more or less subservient etc.). In addition one could argue that the world is chaotic because of wars, extinct species, shifting borders, continental drift, revolutions etc.

Why do you assume these gods will fight each other? They could very easily coexist in total peace. There could be infinite Gods and each of them could be infinite, because we know mathematically many infinities can exist within 1 infinity. Each of these infinite amount of Gods could also have an infinite place for themselves, to create whatever universe they want. So there would be no need for anyone prevailing over the other or anyone compromising. You're thinking with very limited mindset, where Reality is completely unlimited.

Is this argument beyond reasonable doubt??why are we assuming two Gods will fight with each other like humans.. See..There's nothing to gain from rulling the universe if they are perfect and immortal beings... Do give reasons if you disagree ..

The answer is easy, archeology has documented two things. 1) Allah is also YHWH, whom the Christians and Jews worship. 2) That the original documented deity was a lesser god of metallurgy.

Thus, your god isn't all powerful, he isn't the creator, he is a lesser god like all the others, and he is competing with the others, and at times has even been beaten.

Is there any Biblical prophets came under Black magic?.
No.
Reference:
Numbers 23:23
23 Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!

Muhammad came under Black magic ?.
Yes.
Reference:
Sahih al-Bukhari 5766
Narrated `Aisha:
Magic was worked on Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) so that he began to imagine that he had done something although he had not. One day while he was with me, he invoked Allah and invoked for a long period and then said, "O `Aisha! Do you know that Allah has instructed me regarding the matter I asked Him about?" I asked, "What is that, O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)?" He said, "Two men came to me; one of them sat near my head and the other sat near my feet. One of them asked his companion, 'What is the disease of this man?' The other replied, 'He is under the effect of magic.' The first one asked, 'Who has worked magic on him?" The other replied, 'Labid bin A'sam, a Jew from the tribe of Bani Zuraiq.' The (first one asked), 'With what has it been done?' The other replied, 'With a a comb and the hair stuck to it and a skin of the pollen of a male datepalm tree.' The first one asked, 'Where is it?' The other replied, 'In the well of Dharwan.' Then the Prophet (ﷺ) went along with some of his companions to that well and looked at that and there were date palms near to it………

Muhammad was under Black magic for about six months.

Is Allah the same as Jehova? Is Allah different than the Christian god?

1:10 Dumbest logic ever. Attacking Christianity by saying it's politheism is just poor understanding of the Trinity. All Christians believe that God is One, it's just the way the Godhead is organized is very complex and only revealed in The Son: Jesus Christ.

You ask: "can God the Father, The Son and Holy Spirit disagree?" If I answer "No", you say "then they are not all allmighty and all powerfull". But the reason that they cannot disagree is that there is just ONE PERFECT WAY of thinking, ONE PERFECT PLAN of doing things. They cannot disagree because all 3 Persons in the Trinity know which is THAT ONE AND ONLY PERFECT PLAN. If God the Father says: "hey, let's do Plan A" and the Son says "let's do Plan B", it would mean one of them is unperfect, because there are no 2 different PERFECT WAYS of doing ONE thing. So they never disagree because they are all 3 perfect and all want the perfect thing. Always.

why do u assume that gods would be competing with each other like petty human lords trying to overthrow their king. limited imagination. the gods exist beyond our reality and our kind of cognition altogether, they are knowable only in terms of what they produce, they are not making power-sharing agreements or fighting each other in time like a bunch of people would.
