Martin Shkreli sentenced to 7 years in prison

Martin Shkreli, who gained notoriety for inflating the price of a life-saving drug, was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday for defrauding investors out of more than $10 million.

I thought he raised the price so that insurance companies would have to cover the cost. Before, when it was cheaper, patients had to pay out of pocket.

Ha! That’s what you get for using the US medical system to fund research for a healthcare company!

Next time you buy a medicine from the market, do it like the medical companies we all love - only rise the prices a few percent a year. People will love you even if you put no research into your drug for 50 years at all. Who cares if the cost of all medications has been growing exponentially for years if we can hunt down this one guy who wanted to fund research? Hey, we can even forget that he didn’t bill his customers at all if they couldn’t get the medication covered by their insurance!

Let’s just hunt that one guy down and forget about all the shameful things all other pharmaceutical companies have been doing for years!

It's sad because he didn't go to jail because of his immoral actions, but because he screwed over investors (ie rich people) mad that no one could pay for his product, thus they couldn't make money off him. It's a sad world world we live in.

People are misjudging the situation, this man made the medicine free for anyone who isn't financially capable, they just need to fill up a form, he skyrocketed the price so that insurance companies will have to pay it and cover it up, it's still a nasty move but against rich people, he didn't exploit any poor folks.
That being said, he has a VERY punchable face.
