This song holds such a bittersweet memory in my heart. It was a sad day for me. I was homesick, heartbroken and just tired of holding my breath. I was so tired of holding myself together, pretending I wasn’t affected by what was happening in my life.

I was always the girl who comforted others, the kind of girl who would ask for help after I’d dealt with it myself. I remember walking into class and two of the closest most dearest friends I have ask me what’s wrong before enveloping me into warm hugs. Their hugs saved me that day, that day I finally stopping holding my breath and pretending.

I’ve always heard people say “you never forget your first love” and I know what it means now. It’s been 4 years but when he pops in my mind every now and then, it still hurts like it did on the day I walked away.
