So, what happens when people edit information artifacts? Sometime this is a rare event, but sometimes as in the case with open source software many concretizations of a program, which is also a GDC, will be slightly altered. In some cases the deviation becomes small enough to be imagined to be just an instantiated alteration of the canonical program. But some would be maybe 2/3rds or 3/4ths reconstructed. Do we make new GDC's entirely, or do we acknowledge that 1/3rd or 1/4th of the program is from another GDC?
